JB knew 3-6 wasnt going to verify 2 days ago and you could tell from the clues he always leaves in his blog. He just never backs off until the last minute because on the off chance of some miracle he never wants to have to flip flop. He must be a republican, so scared to be labeled a "flip flopper" that he would rather go down with a sinking ship then change when something isnt working.

About your average, you have a much better opportunity than most of us for significant snow in March.

And I believe you beat BWI by 25" last winter.

Go to bed.

I am happy for you honestly, probably going to finish near 4". I have no issues with this storm, it actually ended up about an inch above my expectations here. It doesn't change my frustration at the season so far though...its going to take a 6" plus storm before that happens. (or several of these 3" types back to back to back)

We are all frustrated about this season but it is nice to enjoy a moderate snowfall when all we've had was dustings. Now is not really the time to complain, I am loving this snow.

Ok so I have these so far....

Frederick: 2.5"

Columbia: 1.5"

Gaithersburg: 1.5"

Leesburg: 1"

Those are the ones that I have for now unless someone else has higher amounts before 11 they want to share.

2.6" here in Clarksburg. The last 1/2" is flakes standing on edge.

Here's a pic:

last year was amazing...and I was completely satisfied when it was over. I never though I would see that, and I know I never will again.

However, I would trade in about 40" from my 100" last winter to get more then just 1 good winter out of the last 7. Especially as places east and north of here have gotten a string of 5 out of 7 above normal. I suppose I had this silly hope that perhaps we would get a run of at least decent winters. I do not expect 100" or even 50" very often. What I would like is to get to at least 75 percent of my seasonal average most winters and perhaps go above average 1 out of 3. This snow hole area from Central PA down into MD and northwest VA is not a one year thing. I was talking tonight with a good friend from PSU that lives in NY now. He actually is not ignorant of mid atlantic climo and was saying how weird it is that this area has been lacking significant snows for a decade now other then last year. This year has been more the normal the last decade then last winter was. My frustration I guess comes from the faulty hope I had that perhaps last winter would break that snow drought for this area. I fear that was false hope, and perhaps this is a more long term pattern that may be somewhat permanent.

If you want the long term snow drought to be over, I think it is silly to give up on that hope so soon. The 1950s was the most snowless decade in the history of Baltimore (since records began), and the only good winter was 1957-58, which was in fact an epic winter for the northern suburbs. The following winter was crap, but then after that was a very snowy period.

About to hit the 5 inch mark. Not too shabby considering I thought we would continue the snow hole. Now let's get a real storm like last year. :gun_bandana:

congrats... I know your area did about as well as mine in the Feb 10th storm last winter. That was actually bigger up this way then the Feb 6th was. Just curious, what is your seasonal average there? You are at about the same elevation as me 1000 feet and just a little northeast of here. Just wondering if your average is about the same. Here it is about 38".

There are a ton of weenies who should be ashamed of themselves. Today was an epic display of weenie radar suicides...even though we KNEW it wasn't going to look good until the last second. Sigh.

Pushing 3 inches here in Towson. Winding down though.

I was still holding out a crazy hail mary hope that this would develop 3 hours sooner and give 4-8 to Baltimore north and east. I saw that was not happening by about 2pm. I think expectations have to be taken into consideration. If some were only looking for 1-3" then it was too soon to be giving up. If you were holding out for the hope that this was more significant the writing was on the wall by mid-day today that was not happening.

I apologize for my complaints. It wasn't the radar as much as a few last minute model runs and the fact that the OH valley low was stronger than expected.

It is probably the same as yours. I am really not that far from you, just more east. I drive into Baltimore County everyday. I am maybe 8-9 miles North of Harford County in the sticks. Not to many neighbors on my road, mainly farms and woods.
