mitchnick
JB says next system CUTS to our west and he WILL be right with that prediction why? because it guarantees we get no snow if we are in the bulls eye on the Euro at 5 days out, just forget about it folks it will change

Fozz
JB says next system CUTS to our west It's La Nina, where lake cutters are the norm.
mitchnick
actually, that stuff over the mts might have a chance making it here because the atmosphere over us is quite saturated and its being generated by the 5H low vs. upslope off the lakes
Bob Chill
Are those 35dbz returns moving out of the WV panhandle even snow? Is that a big line of sleet moving in? The low to the west being stronger than modeled has certainly pulled in more warmer air aloft.

Ian
that band looks like saturday morning too bad we tracked it for 10 days instead of
mitchnick
It should change to snow as the heavier band comes through. The reason some are getting light freezing rain is the cloud depth has not been sufficient to get the cloud top temperatures below minus 8 or 10C. When the stronger vertical motions starts in the band to your west, the depth of the clouds will increase and the cloud tops should be cold enough to support snow. its been 2 years since we had that discussion

ovechkin
Somehow I'm sure the beltway snowshield will somehow force the band to either fizzle out, or pass to the north, south or anywhere else
mitchnick
like I said in the other thread, that stuff on the west side of the mts has a chance to make it to us w/o drying up because 1) we're saturated and 2) its caused by 5H low and not upslope

Bob Chill
I would be downright funny if the OH low being stronger than modeled ends up giving up 1-4" instead of the coastal cranking up and giving us the modeled 1-4".

Bob Chill
The evolution of this system is going to be completely different than modeled for our area. The coastal should hit the area good up north but watching the dynamics spin off of the 500 low in the OH are more than interesting.
