earthlight
Some very light flurries here in Rockville Centre. I'll wait for the early 00z stuff, and then a road trip to Long Island might be in order. I don't think I can pass up this mesoscale insanity. I don't think I can pass up this mesoscale insanity. I was thinking of going home to merrick which is on the water in SE Nassau cty. My problem is that I'm not sure how big of a difference it'll be from where I am now around white plains. Any thoughts of my situation?

My problem is that I'm not sure how big of a difference it'll be from where I am now around white plains. Any thoughts of my situation? How long have you been up here? If it sets up just east of us there are some great spots to get blasted on the shore of the sound. Better than great south bay I think... Even better - head up into the hills in CT if you really want a show tonight.

Dsnowx53
It's still pretty dry in the mid-levels and in the snow-growth regions. Thus, the "flurries" will be very small flakes, and there might even be some ice pellets/snow grains.

Better than great south bay I think... I go to school up here since Aug 09...Thing is If the banding sets up just to the east I could do a little chase until the conditions get too bad but going home is just too easy. Im hedging on my gut telling me there wont be a major difference (more than 3-5in) between the two spots. Only situation I could see there being a bigger difference is if the heaviest band sets up a little west of progged in which case I could see there being a 6in difference, but in that situation we'd also benefit from a further west precip shield and I wouldn't mind it as much. I guess we'll see how that goes!
