me too. If someone spits below 32 I spinout.

video please.

I have an old (which means skinny tires) E320, you don't have to tell about spinning out. Although to be fair I haven't spun out much in it so far, the poor car couldn't make it halfway up the driveway before sliding sideways into the yard.

Currently 21 here after a low of 19. Hopefully the dry air and sun will finally help get rid of the snow on the roads.

I had an average of 5" with a melted equivalent of .65" I guess that says ratios less than 10:1. Anyone else have liquid vs snowfall measurements.

Took my dog for a 4 mile schlep up and down the hills of our neighborhood last night and when I left at 7:14 the roads and sidewalks were still slushy but when I got w/in a mile of the house I noticed a lot of refreezing as my ass almost connected with the pavement 3 times.

My rain gauge had .5" or so in it but I'm not sure how accurate it is. It was filled up with snow half way through the storm and anything that fell on top was blown away.

I just went out of the house for the first time to check road conditions for my wife. She wouldn't make it out of our driveway. 1 inch of solid ice. There is a hill leading into our development that's shady and it is a solid sheet of ice all the way down. I took a look at the secondary road and it had significant amounts of ice in both directions. I'm not letting her drive in this. I'm sure there will be no school tomorrow. I'm really enjoying my spring break this week!:arrowhead:

19.1 with howling winds. and we are still socked in - ice/snow all over the road. high today near 30 so hopefully some will melt. otherwise, no one in my neighborhood has left since late sunday

my driveway looks like a glacier lol. there are a lot of small limbs down - guess the winds last night with the ice did a number on them. the ground is littered with limbs - they really stand out against the snow

I know there was definitely some wind Sunday night so I'm wondering if I got some snow off the roof corrupting the gauge.

If you get anywhere close to 30, I'd be shocked. I wouldn't expect any better than mid 20s because of your elevation. The rest of the downslope region should get to 30 to 32. Gfs was considerably too cold this morning..low here was only 21, gfs was showing a low near 14 prior to the 06z run. Probably has something to do with how long it took to cool down last evening..it was surprising.

Icy as hell here obviously. I took a fall earlier, Fortunately I was expecting to fall before I even did so I was able to be ready for it. It still hurt like hell though. It did a number on my right shoulder which already has issues from an earlier injury :arrowhead:

Hard to picture this snow going much anywhere today. However, there was more melting from underneath yesterday that i expected. At first glance it doesn't look like much has melted but seeing the pics from early yesterday and the ones late in the afternoon, there is a difference. Especially in the open fields..where i have probably lost 3 to 4 inches. Some of this was from compaction I'm sure but some did melt. To be clear this is all from underneath, none of it on top melted. Will be interesting to see what the sun is able to do today. 2 inch Ground temps are a few degrees cooler than yesterday in general in most areas but still above freezing. That's not to say the actual surface to half inch isn't frozen though. I'm sure in many places it is. But the snow actually helped the ground warm yesterday so we'll see.

Hopefully the roads improve though. But I don't expect very much improvement on untreated secondary roads or many of them in general. Even the ones that were scrapped, like mine, have a LOT of slick spots. In fact it's simply a sheet of ice right down from my driveway to the bottom of a hill. It is protected from the sun and the scraper didn't get a lot of it. Dangerous spot to be honest.

Just thought this was interesting. Maybe one day we will see this in our region. It would be great to get a bombing low off the se coast say around the SC/GA line with a bunch of cold air in place.

Current Image from the Cam...

Bone chilling 25.1 with frequent 20+ mph gusts. As LookOut mentioned we didn't get nearly as cold as GFS advertised. It showed mid to low teens here this AM but that did not happen. GFS is showing well below 12 for me tonight so we shall see. Roads are looking much better up here but my driveway still has a solid 4" on it thanks to it's NW orientation.

Didn't read the previous pages to see if this had already been stated, but go spend 5 minutes reading the storm obs thread from NE and it will make our recent events seem paltry, meaningless and pathetic. (doesn't mean I would give it back of course)

But seriously, my co-worker in CT has 19" and still snowing..............in less than 12 hours!!!!! :weight_lift: And I'm headed there TOMORROW!! That is, if the flight even leaves Charlotte.

I've had 3 people (the 3rd person being just a few mins. ago) within the past 10 hours try to get out of my neighborhood, and all of them nearly spun out into my ditch here. The roads here are just plain AWFUL and no one can seem to get out of my area because the hills here are just steep enough to cause them to get stuck. All of them had no choice but to head back home.

EDIT: Scratch that. Make it 4 people now (cadillac got stuck). Earlier was a Ford Ranger.

Yep, my neighbor has an AWD Subaru and couldn't get up our street, most of the snow/slush flash froze to ice overnight. Nasty stuff.

Nice image Jason! Did you get the outdoor model?

We're sitting at 26 even. We're half-way through the daylight hours at 12:45 or so. Forecast high is 28... we'll see.

Thanks! I did get the outdoor model. It's currently mounted to a 2x12 that I cut to 2' in length so I can move it around the front porch. Will find a more permanent install later.

That's nice, much better image when you don't have to go through glass. Maybe I'll put mine outside today! smile.gif
