I drove through one of those in Buffalo Grove heading home, pretty good stuff. I don't think we see anything quite like that, but an additional couple inches puts me into 6+ territory.

Here's the latest from LOT aviation discussion

THIS LAKE EFFECT SNOW BAND WILL LIKELY BECOME THE MAIN MODERATE SNOW MAKER THIS AFTERNOON...AS SYNOPTIC SCALE FORCING CONTINUES TO WEAKEN AS THE UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM MOVES EAST. BUFKIT SOUNDINGS CONTINUE TO SHOW A THERMODYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING THIS BAND OF SNOW THROUGH MID TO LATE AFTERNOON. INVERSION HEIGHTS WILL LIKELY TOP 7500KT AGL THIS AFTERNOON...PRODUCING AN AREA OF INSTABILITY THAT WILL REACH WELL INTO THE DENDRITIC GROWTH ZONE. THEREFORE...EFFICIENT SNOWFALL PRODUCTION AND LIFR CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED IN THE AREAS THIS BANDING EFFECTS.

I wonder how much liquid we've had. LAF is reporting 0.17" which looks like it could be a tad underdone based on the obs but not as bad as some other snow events in the past. Probably ratios of at least 15:1

I was surprised the airport reported that much liquid. Usually it's 0.09" or something like that with events like this.

We're in the band out here in Oak Brook. Coming down good, big flakes. It's definitely starting to edge back east. How quick it does so will tell the story in Cook County.

Eastern Cook spent most of the morning in the band before it shifted west, snow picking up pretty good again and we have 4 and some change on the ground near Foster and LSD. I think a run at 6 is possible if that band spends some time in the neighborhood before rolling out to visit Tornadotony.

looks to me like it's losing its signature band and intensity while dispersing both directions....probably reform into NW Indiana now

EDIT: went to brief heavy burst here and now nothing with sun peaking through clouds..

you can see the new band forming out over the lake now

meh..got more then I thought probably about 3 inches...I'm sure streamwood is the sweet spot with 7 inches ..and Thundersnow is looking for his snow shoes(tennis rackets for feet) to get out and measure ....:scooter:

Bands are still coming ashore around MKE so it isn't over for NE Illinois yet, the winner will be the near NW collar suburbs, Evanston, Lincolnwood, Norridge

Let's keep the LES discussion in the lake effect thread.

It doesn't make sense for me to post in the LE thread as this is still partly synoptic and my lake enhanced snows are distinct from what Indiana, Michigan and Ohio will see. If others want me to post there though, i will.

Snow ramping up pretty good again here on the lakefront.

I had 1.4" at home when I left for work this morning around 10 30am, eyeballing it here at COD, probably near 2.5" or so.

Storm looks to be about over here, down to just flurries. Any more accumulation in Central Ohio will depend on whether or not we can get some heavier bands to move through tonight.. But I'd say it's about over here. I'd say on average got aroun2 - 2 1/2 inches here, so appears I am busting on my calls, Had a feeling I shouldve updated totals yesterday afternoon, but stuck with moy 4-6" call.. Anyways, congrats to everyone who got snow..
