Lookout
athens is reporting moderate freezing rain now. This is cause for some concern if true because there is still a lot of precip out there. Greensboro (about 40 miles south of athens) is still snow though and they almost always switch well ahead of athens..even though it's not that far away. It would be somewhat of a surprise if they just went from snow to freezing rain with no sleet transition. So I'm not sure if it's legit..yet. Still all snow here but that would mean the transition is probably an hour away or so..but that would be very close to what the nam has been saying all along...a transition some time between 9 and 10am for a couple of days actually. So if it comes to pass, the nam has nailed it and nailed it a long ways out.
Stormsfury
Accidents on almost every bridge in the Lowcountry.. http://www.scdot.org...rlestonSCam.asp not surprising. glaze everywhere but fortunately the stronger NNE winds of 15-25 mph earlier have subsided for the time being. SnowNiner
Radar is starting to take a more SE to NE oriented movement which is good because more precip will be able to make it into the CLT area. The radar had a lot for west to east component to it earlier. Just as my weenie heart had begun to lose hope! Yeah, this is what was killing me. It seemed like it was moving due east and that just wasn't going to work. Now it seems like returns in NE Georgia/Athens way are moving this way. That's huge. Now it's heading up 85/74. VeronicaCorningstone
Between Havelock and New Bern.... Marine Corps Air Station..... Over 1.5 inches... Coming down big time... They did not shut us down YET! Wow! Don't see that too often...my son will be upset that there's more snow at his dad's than there will be here! Very heavy clouds here in Wilson, @29 degrees. Nothing falling. My husband said roads down around Clinton/Salemburg (especially 242) are covered with at least 0.5-1" coating the ground. He's on his way back, as they have evidently closed work for the day - he never even made it there, but saw several coworkers heading the opposite direction! But otherwise, non-event here in the northern piedmont as predicted. 27 wasted degrees..........
DAWGNKITTEN
Question..unless I missed something over the last 8 hours, we were supposed to have all snow, all night long, but it looks like I'm stuck in a dry slot that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. NWS is still predicting 4-8" for the day, I don't see it, can anyone explain, and it's not just for MBY, but all of extreme NE GA that isn't getting snow...thank you and sorry. My concern too, I've had moderate freezing rain here and it's headed your way, I'm still at 24.8 degrees so it's ice as soon as it hits. I guess we'll be seeing this all day long, this could get rough. We still have moderate sleet and freezing rain on they way http://www.daculaweather.com/ridge_georgia_master.php
