jburns
Thanks for posting that, saved me from digging. Thats -9 850's in central NC. These rates are killer right now if you can get under some echoes, 20dbz is all it takes and the atmosphere will squeeze it to death. Snow is dry like sugar outside. You have anything? Just a few flakes here not even wort mentioning.

SnowNiner
About 2 inches in west Charlotte so far. Radar upstream is anemic. Can we break our 3 inch snow limit in CLT!!!:gun_bandana:Let's see what that band to our south can do....
nchighcountrywx
At work down in Charlotte: Accumulation: 1.5 inches Temperature 26 Light flurries since 5:30am with the accumulation being put down in the initial burst around 4am Fingers crossed the NWS accumulation forecasts end up verifying but analysis indicates high risk it will not. sctvman
The Charleston area is paralyzed right now. Accidents everywhere, and they're laying sand on all the bridges. Several of them are closed. Berkeley County schools are also closed.
Lookout
lol - 8.7" and counting! getting quite a few spots at 9" now its still coming down. the roads are, well, completely covered here. its so light that unlike christmas, this isnt sticking in the trees that much, other than the pines and bushes. yes the emergencies were wild! I think you probably get 11 or 12 since you will have the benefit of staying mostly as snow or snow a good bit of the day. Plus the activity across alabama/western ga is moving pretty slow. Hard to say how long I hold on. The sleet/snow line has been pretty constant along i-20 for hours. As long as the heavy precip stays put, I think I hold on to snow for at least another 2 or 3 hours. Indeed the nam/gfs have been showing a changeover here around 15z all along. I had a lull for a little bit but I'm not getting back into those convective looking showers and have heavy snow with big (monster) flakes once again. First light is amazing. There is a huge snow drift hanging off the back end of my house near the southeast corner. I didn't notice it earlier but it's hanging off about a foot and is about a foot deep easy. Not a patch of bare ground anywhere. Even the big 3 snows I had before this had some in protected spots or spots that melted from underneath. Not this time. Amazing what a cold ground, night time snow and temps in the 20s can do for you.

Trambo
Snow has really picked up here again, no sleet now. Good morning. Just down the road from you, near Woodruff. I'd say we have probably 5"+, but haven't been out to measure yet. Hope everyone enjoys this weather. Stay safe and thanks to all the Mets who kept the rest of us informed. Stormsfury
The Charleston area is paralyzed right now. Accidents everywhere, and they're laying sand on all the bridges. Several of them are closed. Berkeley County schools are also closed. continues with mostly ZR, a few bursts of sleet in bright bands. I think the hopes for snow accumulations dwindled after the initial banding this morning didn't set up shop across the area. Expect a mess for much of the rest of the day. Evaporation cooling ongoing and wetbulb temperatures remain AOB 32 across most of the area.

beanskip
Radar returns starting to hit a brick wall at the N.C./S.C. line -- must be snowing pretty good in Gaffney, but just flurries in Shelby with 3 1/2 inches.
Lowpressure
Starting to see much larger flakes mixing in, so far it had been small flakes. Up to about 2 1/2 inches 24.4F

EmersonGA
Just went out and measured 6" with 1/8" crust of sleet and zr. Currently 26.8 with light zr and ip. The roads are horrible here with that crust.
packfan98
You have anything? Just a few flakes here not even wort mentioning. I have a good dusting. One important aspect to this storm is that every flake is sticking, even on the roads. This fact makes the storm a big deal for travel and schools. Also, it will be slow to melt meaning lasting effects for the rest of the week. I'm not sure there will be any school this week if we get more than 3 inches. Wow
Radar returns starting to hit a brick wall at the N.C./S.C. line -- must be snowing pretty good in Gaffney, but just flurries in Shelby with 3 1/2 inches. It's coming. Don't worry. That area of strong lift is coming our way. Stronger 700mb omegas are starting to push into our area which includes the heavy stuff. Lookout
wow! i am speechless lol That's a good thing right I have never *ever* seen gsp forecast 10 to 12 inches of snow for any of their non mountain ga counties, at least down this way like they are doing for elbert. It seems like the smart thing to do because they are probably closing in on a foot already. It's really coming down out there right now. These heavy showers/yellow elements mean some serious business. Visibilities are under 1/4 mile. The freezing drizzle is going to be a blessing later on because this is such a dry snow that it would melt very quickly if temps warmed even a little bit tomorrow. This will at least protect it.
