DCMetroWinston
I know. I wouldn't be surprised to see 5 or 6" by tomorrow morning, at least for me. This has been a complete surprise for me. About 4 pm I was calling it quits, now Im at 3.5". Gotta love NC's winters! Something went BANG in the Triad after 4pm, and it has been one shocking ride ever since! The very cold temps in the Triad (low to mid 20s) must have played a role in maximizing the accumulations.
LMA1973
Since 7:00 it has gone from snow to heavy sleet, to freezing rain and now back to snow with huge flakes. This is weird.

OT how many turnovers are we gonna see in the game tonight ...and we were all expecting a shootout... Maybe having not played football in 37 days is having an effect? Maybe? DCMetroWinston
CLT went from reporting light freezing rain at 7 pm over to reporting light snow now. http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/KCLT.html
RaleighWx
How are the roads? I am leaving LGA and landing in RDU at 11:00pm? I can only speak for my area here. They are not snow or sleet covered, but there is a layer of sleet on my neighborhood road and it looks wet, but when I walked out to it, it felt slick. They will only get worse, and there will at least be icy patches around by 11.

WidreMann
It's ZR here now. Glad to hear that the Triad yet again magically gets many inches more snow than here. We had, at best, a quarter inch of snow/sleet mess.

My Dr.'s office just called to cancel my appointment that was 8am tomorrow. She said they were on a 2hr delay. I told her i didnt think 2 hrs was going to make a difference. She didnt get it. hah

LMA1973
The road conditions in my neighborhood have gotten pretty bad. Completely covered in either sleet or where it was wet earlier has frozen over. Its crunchy and slick all over and its just going to get get worse overnight. I imagine tomorrow morning will greet me with just one frozen over mess without too much white around.
chapelhillwx
It's ZR here now. Glad to hear that the Triad yet again magically gets many inches more snow than here. We had, at best, a quarter inch of snow/sleet mess. I'd say a half inch here. There are three big bands lining up to hit us. Roads are bad even though we only have half an inch so far. WidreMann
When it's heavier, it now seems to switch over to sleet. I guess the ZR is just the inbetween crap.

LMA1973
I quit looking at the radar. It has been doing something here non-stop (with just a couple slack moments) since i got home from work and at times there has been nothing over me (on the radar). At times the precip has been light so i guess maybe not giving good returns or something.

gtg947h
In between the raindrops I saw a few blowing flakes at KSAV around 0945, and had little ice drippings all over cars, fences, powerlines, etc. at least through noon. Just an overall nasty day; fortunately no iced over roads (yet).
