RevDodd
Congrats to you both! Enjoy it! 'Preciate it! I'm happy so many of our former snow lepers cashed in. Let's get the next one to set up right and give everyone a solid storm on the season.
DaculaWeather
I've been having trouble with it as well. Which loop?
buckeyefan1
interesting, eh? lol - i have lost all the sleet. i am now 100% light freezing rain. there is enough of an accretion to easily hear it in the trees (as well as see it). lol i havent lost power since the dec 05 ice storm (knock on wood). i dont know if the amounts would be enough to do a lot of damage, but with all the snow, etc. we already have it wont take a lot to really mess things up This has been awesome I think it was in '02 when I lost power last for the ice storm. I would guess I have .15 in ice now with light to moderate freezing rain. Heavy sleet!!! Wow!! It's sleeting so hard it's knocking the snow off the trees...kinda freaky lookin'. BONUS!! Congrats Peach!
tgarren
little heavier than light but not quite moderate snow in downtown greensboro. no idea the temp car said 33 when i went to lunch. hoping we get enough to close a little early. pulling an all nighter was a terrible idea. Tullioz
After reading through this thread today I have to wonder if everyone has been looking at the same models and reading the same analysis of this system as I have for the past week. It looks like everything is going as expected to me except maybe the heavier snow in the Wilmington area. The places that were expecting a lot are getting it and those that are not supposed to be seeing snow yet are not. I think some people expect the storm to begin at the same time for everyone and lack patience to wait let things develop. I didn't expect anything in my area until late this afternoon because that is what was being shown for days on the models even up until last night. So seeing light snow now is actually a little ahead of schedule. Storms rarely pan out exactly as forecast, but at least wait until it has a chance to develop in you given area. Half of this thread is full of premature complaints. I would much rather read actual obs for the storm at this point and complaints and what went wrong after the fact. ro9beam2002
Saw a few "flakes" in Durham, NC. Near i-85/Guess Rd. If this keeps up we might have 1/4" snow drifts by sunday:)
Gastonwxman
Moderate burst of snow has occurred once more. Snuck up out of nowhere lol.
UNCCmetgrad
Still very light snow pellets here with right about 4 inches now. Decent looking bands forming to my southwest, but based on some recent post and the fact that Rock Hill is now reporting unknown precip instead on light snow expect the transition to occur here soon. joshuaincharlotte
Just measured in Northwest Charlotte (Mountain Island area). We have a little over 5 inches. I couldn't be happier even though more was forecasted...I would have been pleased with an inch!

NEGa
Congrats ladies! I'm getting a little worried now about powerlines and trees with all the ZR falling and expected to continue for a while in the upstate its probably not going to be that big a problem here since we are all immobilized anyway lol - not enough to bring down trees. you might be in the frzn rain a little longer over in the upstate and end up with .25 or so...things really start to bend when you get that much

dwagner88
It has been snowing lightly on and off all day, but little to no additional accumulation. I'm shocked to say for the second time this season, that this has been the largest snowfall here since the Superstorm (Christmas day was also). 8 inches is the official measurement in the yard, but I have some drifts on the north side of the house to around 14 inches or so. Jalba
From GSP .NEAR TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/...BEST UPPER FORCING HAS MOVED OFF TO THE NE BUT ANOTHER WEAK SHORTWAVE WILL MOVE IN FROM THE W TO AFFECT THE AREA THRU THE EVE. LOW LEVEL MOISTURE CONTINUES TO SURGE N FROM THE GULF AND OVER THE REGION BUT THE MID LEVELS ARE SLOWLY DRYING FROM ABOVE. THIS MEANS PRECIP SHOULD BE LIGHTER THAN EARLIER TODAY BUT STILL ENOUGH TO ACCUMULATE THRU THE EVE INTO THE OVERNIGHT. MODEL SOUNDINGS STILL SHOW A NOSE OF WARM AIR PUSHING IN ABOUT 2-5K FT WHICH WILL AID PRECIP CHANGING TO SLEET AND FZRA...THEN MOSTLY FZRA FROM THE S-SW THRU THIS EVE. ADDITIONAL SNOW WILL BE MINIMAL ACROSS THE S-SW BUT UP TO 2 INCHES STILL POSSIBLE OVER THE N AND E NC MTNS INTO THE NC PIEDMONT...ESP N OF THE I-40 CORRIDOR. FZRA ACCUMS WILL BE LGT AND SINCE IT WILL TRANSITION EARLIER...0.1 TO 0.15 INCHES ACCUM PSBL...MAINLY S OF I-85. WILL MAINTAIN WINTER STORM WARNING BUT TWEAK THE SNOW/ICE AMOUNTS. LOOK FOR MRNG LOWS IN THE L-M20S ACROSS THE CWA. AS DRYER AIR WRAPS IN FROM THE SW TUE...PRECIP WILL GRADUALLY END FROM THE SW ACROSS THE PIEDMONT BUT SNOW WILL PICK UP IN THE NC MTNS AS MOIST NW FLOW INCREASES. TEMPS WILL ONLY WARM INTO THE L-M30S ACROSS THE PIEDMONT WHICH WILL NOT DO MUCH TO MELT SNOW. . So there's still hope Just went outside to check, we have 1.5" on the ground. NavarreDon
Well......Just got in from shoveling the driveway which I didn't do during the clipper event. I was somewhat in line with Phil. A solid 6" which probably compacted as I just couldn't bring myself to measure this AM. Not the 9" they were forecasting, but it is just been back to back amazing winters in Asheville! On to the NW flow & whatever it brings. Happy for everyone who got it esp. Robert. For those who missed there will almost always be a next time.
