DCMetroWinston
The sad thing is, I've been completely spoiled by the Dec. 26 blizzard in NJ and I don't think I can ever be satisfied with <8" again. size queen.
Lookout
I've been out enjoyin the snow, taking pics and got the traditional Bo Snow biscuit. Yep, they're open. Driving is completely treacherous. I've got right at 5" as of 2 hours ago. I'll put pics on the pics thread if there is one. I loved this storm here, the snow last night was unbelievably hard for a couple hours and I never recall seeing roads go from black to covered like that, which made driving home scary at 4 am. Slept a couple hours. I'm glad GA and SC got hit hard, congratulations, you never know how long it may be until another. Hopefully soon. Oh 27, and moderate snow at times. That's great to hear robert I was worried because you deserve it for all the analysis and insight you provide. Back here, it's getting really icy. The radar isn't picking it up very well but there has been moderate freezing rain/heavy freezing drizzle for just 30 minutes or so but it already has put a pretty decent glaze on everything. I've been sitting here thinking if the power did go out, it's going to be a long time to fix it because the power company wouldn't be able to get to where they need to be to fix it. That would suck. At any rate, The snow pack is really hard with that ice on top of it now. It's hard to imagine anyone being able to travel with these conditions and it's only going to get worse, especially tonight. Hope everyone doesn't need to try and drive in this. I've already seen a couple of cars and a wrecker slide off the road here..and that was before the freezing rain/drizzle started. NEGa
Anything beyond this point is bonus. I have absolutely enjoyed this storm!! Robert, all that needs to be said. i take this post, and make it my own LOL - ditto, thoroughly enjoyed the storm, tracking it and robert spectacular job on the wx front, we are going back and forth between moderate sleet and moderate freezing rain (i havent seen any snowflakes lately) there is a definite glaze starting...will be interesting to see just how long this really lasts
Snowacane
A collection of photos from along the coast: http://www.starnewso...997&Ref=PH&pl=1 That is really cool to see, thanks. Had no idea I had to go to the beach house to see snow
jgorlinsky
size queen. Once you go 30" you never go back! Regardless, this is still pretty cool because my parents didn't exactly believe me when I said it snows down here.
Snow Girl
It started snowing here in Sanford this am before 6 and we got about an inch or so and then it stopped for a while then a burst of heavy sleet came around 11 and it mashed all my accumulation down and now you can see the grass really good but it has been snowing steady here for the past hour or more. hoping to pick back up what got packed down and maybe a little more. I am in shock the amount of snow EyeWall is getting and Im 1 county away and I have less than half that amount. I really think if that sleet wouldnt have came we would be around 2 1/2 inches by now. The snow flakes were really tiny and it took a long time to accum. but now the snow flakes are getting really big so maybe that will help cover the grass back up. It sure is beautiful!!!! Congrats to all those to my South and West Yall really did deserve it!!!! Edit just from the time I started writting this the snow has really picked up and really coming down hard now. FoothillsNC
Nice!!!You, yet again, nailed it . You haven't missed here all winter. Not once. Congrats on the 5". You've done a great job with this storm. Any thoughts on the remainder of the storm and the zone of greatest uncertainty: Piedmont of NC. Thanks! Great job on forecasting this storm Robert Although I want get much but I do have a dusting and lgt snow now that's ok somebody gets left out on every storm, So congrats on the snow Thanks for all the time you put in for us weenies. Light snow mixed with drizzle now. I'm gonna call my final measurement 7" the drizzle is going to compact what we have. Anything beyond this point is bonus. I have absolutely enjoyed this storm!! Robert, all that needs to be said. aww thanks guys. Just love following this. Its been a fun pattern. It feels like weather is trying to get back to "normal", seems like we went so many years without anything to even talk about except drought or above normal temps. I'm looking forward to a break to be honest but the way this Winter keeps going that may not last long. The freezing drizzle has arrived. 27. Gastonwxman
Some precipitation beginning to redevelop back in GA. Tarheel Warrior
Some pictures I took if anyone wants to give it a gander: http://s715.photobuc...2/Killerchaos7/ Nice pics... I think I know where that is. Looking at the radar, it's looking like any additional accumulations will be limited with the dry slot moving in shortly. DCMetroWinston
Even with all the legendary dry air over northern NC, it is hard to believe it is not snowing in Chapel Hill or Burlington with a radar like this. http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=rax&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loop=no

phil882
Really never was that impressive here on the NE side of Asheville (I think it might have something to do with the fact we are sandwiched between two significant ridges). I'm not in my typical location because I'm doing balloon launches today. Only have around 4" and snow has completely stopped for the time being. Congrats to everyone in the SE though... glad the upstate finally cashed in!! And Robert you had a great forecast... kudos your way as well
Tullioz
Finally starting to see some flurries/light snow here in Eden. Radar is starting to look pretty good for the Foothills and NW Piedmont in my opinion. I still think it will be a decent event up this way, nothing like down South, but a few inches looks possible before a changeover to freezing drizzle later tonight. I was never expecting anything until late this afternoon anyway so no disappointment here. Temperature was up to 32.2 but has since dropped back to 29.8. WidreMann
Not a flake here in Chapel Hill. The radar returns are dying and moving out (of course), so I'm guessing we won't see a flake at this rate.

packfan98
LIght snow picking up here. Nice returns on the radar but the line is pretty thin. Let' see if we can get the ground covered again.
Mencken_Fan
band has arrived,, just started snowing the biggest flakes I've seen yet! Looks like 1/2 bills! At a good clip! I'm also in Wilmington but my weather seems noticeably different than yours. You keep getting snow that I don't see! I'm only 5 miles from the ocean on Cape Fear but temps this morning were plenty cold throughout the snow event before the precipitation suddenly shut-off at 10:15am. I get 2" but surrounding areas get double and triple that? (I did notice though, a particularly dry sector along the coast on radar here...) Anyway, since 10:15 am I've seen only a few flakes...a few pellets of sleet...and for the last hour just a drizzle of rain. Effectively, this storm ended at 10:15 this morning for the immediate coast of Cape Fear.
CoolBreeze
Light snow falling here now; starting to lay on the roof...maybe we will get something. I still hoping, but will not be upset regardless. It's been great following this storm, and hearing the people in the Deep South have some fun for a change! Amos83
Some precipitation beginning to redevelop back in GA. A sign of the Atlantic transfer beginning to take place with our low if I'm not mistaken: http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/southeast_loop.php yeah and looks like a good slug of precip getting ready to approach the sc/nc boarder around CLT. Maybe this time it will hold together and not die off like all the rest. I've not been outside lately but sitting by my desk looking out the window it appears I've been having freezing drizzle/mist for a while now with large flakes thrown in there every once in a while. I'm about to head out to see if this is true.
NEGa
anyone seen the 18z ruc? it looks sort of like a very similar event that happened after the christmas storm. once the energy starts transferring to the coast, there is a backbuilding/reversing of some moisture back into ne and east central ga. not a lot, but still sort of interesting to see edited to add: this could also affect the upstate
DaculaWeather
My snow qpf ended up at .31" of liquid to produce 5.5" of snow. Got basically less than half the model progged qpf. Once again a "what if" storm for me. But at least it should stick around for a long time. You had a 17.7 ratio to my 13.
