OK. I feel it. I have flurries starting again. The lift is coming through. Triad regions should begin getting whatever it is we are going to get starting in the next hour. Everyone go outside and raise your arms and spin around in a circle to help with the lift!

Unless you're using antiperspirant. Its dry enough!!

I've been out enjoyin the snow, taking pics and got the traditional Bo Snow biscuit. Yep, they're open. Driving is completely treacherous. I've got right at 5" as of 2 hours ago. I'll put pics on the pics thread if there is one. I loved this storm here, the snow last night was unbelievably hard for a couple hours and I never recall seeing roads go from black to covered like that, which made driving home scary at 4 am. Slept a couple hours. I'm glad GA and SC got hit hard, congratulations, you never know how long it may be until another. Hopefully soon.:snowman: Oh 27, and moderate snow at times.

Nice!!!

You, yet again, nailed it . You haven't missed here all winter. Not once. :snowman::thumbsup:

Congrats on the 5". You've done a great job with this storm. Any thoughts on the remainder of the storm and the zone of greatest uncertainty: Piedmont of NC. Thanks!

Congrats to those getting the snow. Now I know how DC feels when we get it and they dont.

Pretty unbelievable storm to watch everyone south and west get nailed and not a flake here in Raleigh. Not that I didnt expect it from studying the data the last few days, usually a strong high pusing in dry, cold air at and near the surface during a storm is a good thing for us, but when the storm is weakening as it moves east like this one, it isnt a good thing.

Still expecting some light snow and ice, but certainly like nothing west and southwest of here.

My snow qpf ended up at .31" of liquid to produce 5.5" of snow. Got basically less than half the model progged qpf. Once again a "what if" storm for me. But at least it should stick around for a long time.

wow - i am really surprised you didnt get a little more than that. not a bad amount, but certainly not what was indicated.

the precip this afternoon is just a mix - keeps going back and forth. now back to moderating (accumulating) sleet lol

there is about .10 ice i think - i you can hear it in the trees and feel it when you bend a branch. the sleet is really keep the ice down

I had more here! thumbsupsmileyanim.gif Sorry... it does suck to go that far for nothing! We just happened to be in a good spot here, we had a great burst before midnight, it started at 9:35 last night and by midnight I had 5". It was REALLY coming down.

Freezing drizzle still going here. Radar is actually not doing too bad of a job picking it up.

We got about 6.5 to 7". Sorta hard to tell because of the wind last night. Neighbor just pulled into his house and said the roads are super slick. Noted that we have about 1/8" crust on top of all the snow.

Lookout, so glad you are officially out of the screw zone. We have had 3 good winters with snows in my opinion. Last year was awesome and this year is like nothing i have ever seen. White Christmas and now this. :snowman:

News now reporting that conditions are worsening by the minute due to ice.

The pic below is from the family that owns my hunting property in Walton County Georgia, the deer were out looking for some food.
