WidreMann
Have fun. Everyone else will get snow while you wallow in self-pity like a two-year-old who didn't get a cookie. You won't get any snow either, seeing as you live even further north than me.
ST21
moderate sleet here in my area. I haven't seen really any freezing rain/drizzle.
strongwxnc
I also use the comp radar. Deck is low here with light small flaked SN Yea, gsp radar is awful for hickory. I have to use composite radar to get a decent handle on what's in the mountains/overhead.
NEGa
Despite little to no returns, The freezing drizzle has really picked up. A nice light glaze on everything now. Nothing major of course but it's caused a roughly half inch crust on top of the snow. Makes me wonder how long it will take to even be able to get anywhere or melt it in general but we are in uncharted territory here. With the next cold blast coming, the snow protected by a layer of ice, it really could be a while. Which will put me in a tough spot because I have some things I need to do by thursday. it really has. at first when i looked out i thought it was fog. went out to check and a very heavy freezing drizzle. a snow day is fun, but i cant miss 3 or 4 days! lol - 1" stopped this neighborhood last january. i am a little nervous if we get more than .10" of ice Amazing rates now. Probably more intense then boxing day (2" per hour?) awesome! i am so glad you are getting in on this storm! the rates here over night looked much higher than they did here for the christmas storm. it was really piling up with some huge monster flakes
burgertime
Really good snow here, the best all day by far.
MichaelJ
Yea, i think most of GSO-RDU corridor precip comes this afternoon/evening. You guys will get a very nice glaze of ice tonight after some initial snow. I would hardly call any ice glaze very nice, it is a treacherous mess. Not doing anything in W-S right now and I have measured around 0" on my deck. Seriously though, anybody who wants ice is not quite right IMO. Not doing anything in W-S right now and I have measured around 0" on my deck Ah, heck. I'd take a half inch glaze of ice at this point just for the excitement. I have alternative sources of heat and electricity.

weatherheels
A couple of hours ago I had some flurries for about 20 minutes or so, dry since then. Anxiously awaiting some bands from the south to make it up here... maybe this time they'll overcome the dry air, dew point still 11.
WXinCanton
Hey Canton, just curious as to what type of beer you got. Hope you didnt do all that for Natty Light or something. Ha ha, Corona and Miller lite.
MichaelJ
You may have wondered into the wrong forum then partner. Well since I had a close friend killed on a very nice ice glaze, I guess we will just have to disagree. Snow I like ice is dangerous and ugly
Cheeznado
Made it home from our perhaps pointless trip to NE GA- where we were in Livonia was a small screw hole where both north and south 25 miles got about 9-10" and there was "only" 6"' there. To top it off we got about 4" here at home it looks like. The drive up was harrowing but exciting and I did get to see some moderate-heavy snow in daylight so it was not a complete waste. Snow chasing can be tricky sometimes. As an aside, my original 4-6" forecast for the Metro was basically spot on, too bad I chickened out and lowered it to 2-5". At least I did not go all the way down to 1-3" like FFC did. Congrats to Lookout, really glad to see that you finally got nailed- I have lived here 30 tears and have never seen ,more than 7" here in the city- did get 10" at work in Marietta during superstorm. Lookout
Yea, gsp radar is awful for hickory. I have to use composite radar to get a decent handle on what's in the mountains/overhead. I have to too..I'm in a bad spot with respect to the radars. I'm about the same distance away from all 3 (gsp, jgx, and ffc) and a lot of times the radars miss some precip or underestimates it here. I remember those years leading up to your "worst screw storm ever". I'm glad to see you finally hit the jackpot lately Light freezing rain is starting to add up here as the moisture continues to roll in. I appreciate that, thank you I'm happy for you too. Like I said earlier, it makes me happy whenever columbia gets snow because often during winter storms (wedges), the midlands/columbia is on the edge and often will just be missed. So I too love the fact you have done so well this past year too.
Rankin5150
The heaviest band yet is passing through. Gosh...Robert (Foothills) deserves a HUGE kudos for matching up the overall pattern, dynamics and forecasting skill! The guy has some mad skills!! The radar is filling up to our south. This is going to get ya JohnWow!!!
Wow
Yea, gsp radar is awful for hickory. I have to use composite radar to get a decent handle on what's in the mountains/overhead. TCLT has been really good with the snow bands so far

Jalba
Encouraged seeing the returns to my SW. Either way, Glad to see those in further south getting some good amounts Snow starting to pick up again, still light.. but it was pretty calm just a few mins ago. Can probably estimate about 1" or maybe a bit more.. I'll go check outside soon.

Lookout
Have fun. Everyone else will get snow while you wallow in self-pity like a two-year-old who didn't get a cookie. Take it down a notch. Widre sort of has a right to complain, it's not fun watching everyone else get hit while you sit there with hardly anything. Believe me I know better than anyone.
