Don't like the looks of the radar, really weakening as it comes this way.. supposed to re-strengthen a bit but I'm not liking the looks of things right now.

I wouldn't worry about those radar returns. I'd expect the radar to light up later this morning as low-level deformation increases.

Wish I was at home in CMH for this one, but at least I get to spend the day outside.

Dustin - Will you be in OH the rest of the winter? It's great to have a met on board. Precip is looking meager in the Northern part of the state. Hoping to squeeze out an inch or two of fluff. You may do better down in the Warren area.

EURO says this

CMH .30

ZZV .33

CVG .36

ILN .34

CLE .19

PIT .33

VTA(newark) .31

MFD .23

850 temps during that time between -11 and -13

2m temps between -4 and -7

Between .30 - .35 would equate to 6-7" of snow

Dilly - Thanks for including CLE in the euro info. You guys are looking good in the central part of the state.

If we can get this vorticity to round the base of the trough before it gets to Ohio and allow the trough to take on a more neutral to negative tilt we should see a stronger surface reflection go up, allowing for the snow to perhaps increase in intensity some and expand NW. This may increase totals some across OH, especially eastern portions of the state. Will be interesting to watch.

Edit: I can concievably see how much areas from Mansfield up along I-71 points south-east see a solid 3-6", with increasing chances of the 6" as you approach the PA boarder. CLE may need to add a row of counties to the advisory, possibly as far NW as Cuyahoga. The energy may swing around too late for the western portions of the state, but there is a large slug of moisture heading towards the south-central/west-central portions of the state. Should be a consistent 3-5" there, maybe locally more depending on how soon any surface reflection forms.

Northern extent of the precip is looking weak and ragged. 12z models were juicier. Not sure how that will work out though. Should start snowing by 2pm or so. I'll be pleased with 3".

I've barely followed this event. At this point in winter a 3" event hardly piques my interest. Just enough to freshen things up and slowly boost the seasonal snow total.

Snow started about 1/2 hr. ago in the NE part of the state. Almost like fine dust falling.

I know everyone laughs about the Jan sun angle but its not dark December anymore. I know it doesn't have a big impact on snowfall yet but you really tell the days are longer. Snow on roofs and roads is melting with an air temp in the low 20's when it wouldn't have several weeks ago.
