MotoWeatherman
RUC and the trends are historic in n. Alabama, northern GA and western SC...gonna be a lot of 1 footers. Robert don't you think that dry slot just south of BHM should fill back in. Based on what I'm seeing on the RUC it would indicate that.

I bet they are cashing in nicely!

WeatherNC
Huff just made it to my house for the chase bringing the N mojo That is cool! I was close to him during a chase to Lyh Dec 19, 09, but never got the chance to meet him ,road conditions and com via the other board threw a curve ball in that... Tell him NC says wassup, I hope you guys get creamed and he has to shack up with you for 3-4 days
stlirish
Talked to my Dad in Lilburn, GA (NE Metro, Gwinnett) about 30 minutes ago. He was at 5" with a light to moderate Snow...some light sleet at times. Real fine/smaller flakes, but pretty filled in. He said the Snow started at 8:53 pm and my 11:30 he had 4". BTW, have you talked to your folks at Big Canoe? I bet they are cashing in nicely! There are not there tonight so no reports from that location. So you think that area south of Bham will refill? that would be interesting I think some of it will as the max omeaga move into north GA.
WxKnurd
I've been watching the radar trends this last few hours and am loving a) the moisture blossoming over NC and what looks to be slight back-building over AL. Like Foothills, I think North AL, North GA, NW SC and SW NC are going to clean up with this storm.
jrips27
Suddenly had a changeover to mostly sleet. Thought I heard some thunder Edit: 90% sleet 10% Snow. Accumulating quickly it seems

FoothillsNC
Robert don't you think that dry slot just south of BHM should fill back in. Based on what I'm seeing on the RUC it would indicate that. yeah, I do, but further south it might not, south of 20. Thats associated with the low level jet thats helping the thundersnow and dry air entrainment. Dont worry n. GA isn't about to become void of precip. The RUC has been doing pretty good so far. Once you get into ne Ga, the 850 winds are going to be screaming tonight over the next 8 to 12 hours, further aiding lift on that side.
jshetley
Dry air winning here so far. Been flurring for over 20 mins now but has almost stopped. Certainly not the fast start folks in GA had.

At least a 5-1 ratio of movement east-north. From the view hear I might be looking at a southern slider.
burgertime
Been a long time since we've seen the radar this robust for our area. Really like the chances of this thing over performing for my area. Would just be ecstatic to get 8 - 10!
FLO
Total FAIL north of I-20 in Aiken/Edgefield so far. Had a big band of snow but nothing but a bout of sleet and flurries since. Total dry slot over us all night.

burrel2
Wow, just amazing here right now. I can't see the treeline across from my house that's about 200 yards away. The flakes are very small but there is just millions of them. Normally, when we get heavy snow around here the flakes are half dollar size conglomerates. This type of snow is a completely different beast! Almost 2 inches here.

MotoWeatherman
How much have you had Dawson? I measured 2.5" at 128am on my driveway. Gonna take another measurement at 230am which will be my 3 hour mark. Still snowing pretty hard while I pull my first all nighter in about 8 years and my two kids are attempting to pull their first. southmdwatcher
Is anyone from the Huntsville AL area still up?? A 50-55 dbz thundersnow just crossed that area south to north in the past 45 minutes on GR3 and GR2AE ....simply amazing snowfall rates must be going on with that. The previous hour the Huntsville airport reported 4 inches in the hour.
