dwagner88
I measured 2" just 10 minutes ago.. what part of town you in? Way out at the edge of east brainerd at about 1050 ft in elevation. I always do at least 30-40% better than the airport with snow. To be fair, I haven't pulled out the ruler yet, but I have visibly more than 3 on the deck rail. MotoWeatherman
Just measured 2.5" here in Dahlonega. That's 2.5" in 2 hours. Not too bad and the heaviest got to me about 30 minutes ago. Based on the RUC omegas look to max out over my area from around 4-6am so the best should be yet to come. Might add that my VP2 has tipped only .06" QPF so far. I put a heater light inside the hollow portion under the funnel and the temp inside the gauge was 54 about 3 hours ago. Not sure if it's melting all the snow as it falls though. Radar looks good to me, but we're getting some light sleet/snow that is having a hard time adding to our accum.

DixieBlizzard
5" as of 1:30 AM. Snow started at 10:20PM. Some snow grains but more flakes. I am getting a bit concerned looking at radar returns to my SW. Is that a big dry slot headed for NW GA? It's been a fine storm regardless!!! Upon further review: That precip that just engulfed BMX may save my azz at current trajectory. This may be a record setter of at least some sort. WNCwx
And as the snow begins here, I'm off to bed, have fun all I'll have a measurement in 6 hrs or so. Relatively heavy downfall and 27 degrees. You'll be buried in snow over in Jackson County. I've already got an inch in less than 45 minutes. It's insane! I took this video right after it started snowing and I could dig my spotlight out of the truck.

dwagner88
Yeah I don't know where that poster from Chatt is that only has 2 inches, but I just measured 4.5 on the back porch. I have some "drifiting" now with some mounds around 6-7 inches.
