Heavy snow/fog continues..About 4 inches here and counting. Unbelievable how quick it piled up.:snowman:

Even better the radar is filling in nicely south of here so more to come.

Dude, very happy that you have been able to cash in on this one!

The snow right now is very small flakes but lots of them. Not the big fluffy kind, however the snow is very fluffy.

Care to talk about how long you expect the precip to hang on? I see that big hole back in MS and SW Alabama racing this way.

Very tight gradient between snow and sleet /freezing rain . Pretty incredible that 850mb temps of -4c to -5c near athens while the waa is taking hold along the ga/al border. Have to love the wedge. Reports of freezing rain in spots now south and west of town.

So snow should hold on for quite a while longer in the east/north than the atlanta metro it would seem. But this is bad news if we see all that is on radar as sleet/freezing rain on top of several inches of snow in the atlanta area..especially west and south of town. Atlanta traffic cancel.

I don't mind the sleet, it compacts the snow a bit but gives it a hell of a staying power. Currently in a lull and thus have a sleet/snow mix, but looks like some heavier precip moving in will turn us north of the metro back to all snow for a bit. Even if we don't switch back, 4" of snow with an inch or so of sleet + a solid glaze of us will shut us down for a few days.

Awesome! You might be right about me getting 6" :snowman: I don't even want to hazard a guess at what you'll end up with.

Itunis,

I know you think I'm probably just a snow weenie. Well, I am. I have loved snow since I was a little kid and I wanted to understand what makes it snow in Alabama, Birmingham specifically. I talked to JB Elliot when he was Chief Met for BMX throughout my childhood because the poor guy lived in MY neighborhood! LOL! Anyway, I always gave more credence to storm track than ANYTHING else including all models. This track was just perfect for a Dixie Blizzard. I LOVE this type of storm. I wish it happened more often but that's what makes it special.

Congrats on your snow buddy....you WILL get your 6 or maybe an inch or two more.
