There aint nobody here

Where is everybody at?

I guess it must be Friday night

Or maybe it's more than that.

I guess the weather's dull

Looks like the pattern's dead.

The only snow there is to find

Is conjured in your head.

But even though now all is calm

And everyone is gone

I still can't keep away from here

I got to get my weather on.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary

Over many a strange and curious plot of modeling galore

While I studied, keyboard tapping, suddenly there came a rapping

As if someone big and strapping, knocking at my bedroom door

Must be the wife, I muttered, knocking at my bedroom door

Only this and nothing more.

Now distinctly on I carry, on through this bleak January

Looking for another snow, another storm and then one more

Eagerly I wished the morrow, energy I need to borrow

Borrow for another day of searching for the snowy, icy score

There it is I shout! I see it! On the GFS, the score!

Now let me see one model more.

The CMC shows snow and ice. The Ukmet looks so very nice.

It thrills me, fills me with delight. But the Dgex says, "No dice"

Suddenly the knocking grows. Addiction's bad - the wife, she knows.

"You on that weather board?", she throws, when all at once my senses froze.

Could this be true what I was seeing? So loud the beating on the door.

I couldn't take it anymore.

The door flung wide and in she came. Head hung down to hide my shame.

I tried but still came back the same to play this foolish weather game.

I tried to tell her, make her listen. But she wouldn't pay attention.

I tried to speak of my affliction of cold and snow and ice addiction.

I explained of blocking, CAD and bombing, modeling and so much more

But she shut me down forever more.

I remember as the screen went black, a moment I wish I had back

The dual block, the perfect track with no cold air there was to lack

One for the ages -- for weather lore, not like we'd ever seen before.

So much snow there was in store in just a day and one day more.

So the mighty Euro showed with only 48 short hours more

But the wife said, "nevermore".

So now I go on off to bed dreaming of a new storm thread.

Should I, could I start one more? What weather then would be in store?

I think for tonight's reprise, I'm going to tackle the Night Before Christmas. Wife wanted to watch Forrest Forrest Gump, which is a good movie, but I would rather be in the weather forum. We watched (she watched) the first half last night. The second half is playing now.

Great poem! Wish I was half that talented! Here I sit...listening to hubby fuss about the Falcons stinking it up....Guess I keep cking to see if I can find anything refreshing...a glimmer of hope showing on the models....someone saying here comes the next storm to follow....

How's that?

Twas the night before Sunday and all through the forum,

Not a poster was posting -- just silence and boredom.

The forecasts were filled with warmth and despair

No mention of cold, ice or snow in the air.

The ridging was nestled down south in the east

The raging Pacific jet stream was a beast

The NAO up, the PNA down

The mid-Winter's thaw had settled in town

When there on the two forty O GFS

A low pressure bomb of 960 or less

Just off of Charleston or maybe Savannah

With a 1050 high slightly east of Montana

Away to the Euro I turned in a flash

No ensembles, unfortunately not enough cash

But agreement was there, the same storm indeed

The sight of a BECS was just what we need

And blocking, yes blocking, how quickly it grew

And PNA ridging was showing up too

Hope now was kindled -- our purpose restored

Now maybe all will come back to the board

Cheeznado, come Matthew, on Delta and Jeremy

On Brandon and Robert and Dawson and Raleigh

Make forecasts, discussions and maps now for all

And put 20 inches inside your first call

The blizzard of blizzards, the one for all time

Just 10 days away, no more than a dime

Excitement rebuilds now as posters return

Living and dying by each model turn

That's how it could be, that's how it has been

And oh how I wish we could do it again

But although the big one's not yet in our sight

Maybe it's coming and coming tonight.

I will be the first to admit to whining about not being able to get out this last week (road is still icy believe it or not), driveway is a mud slide, missed 4 days of work for which I had to burn VAC days and being coldrolleyes.gif...but I sat down to watch a few recorded shows and then it happened....all the warnings and closings from Sunday night...right back in my face.

So, when is the next one? Snowman.gifthumbsupsmileyanim.gif

PSWD (Post-Storm-Weenie-Disorder) I got it bad.

We had a favorable pattern all last winter and only got one good snow out of it, too. Getting more than one a winter lately is too much to ask for around here.

Brick, Maybe you should call God and complain. I'm sure he'll listen to you and fill your back yard full of something.

You ever heard of Frazil Ice? This is incredible http://www.youtube.c...&vq=medium#t=15

that was amazing and worth watching throughout. I'd love to see that snowcone, how the mist freezes before hitting the bottom and making a huge pile of icecrystals. Plus, the glowing falls in February. I hope to one day get out there.

Haha, thanks! Or maybe I have a talent for wasting time while long movies are on or during stretches of boring weather. I did The Raven on the previous page. Anyway, it worked. Now we have weather to talk about and we can avoid me filling up the thread with silliness. :)
