rduwx
Disagree, everyone north, south, east, west of us have killed it the past 2 winters where we are at average. Even eyewall. But if you think about it several members of the SE crew didn't get anything during the Christmas storm and we got close to 8"...I know we did better during last years January storm than others. I know our avg snowfall is higher than others in the SE forum but my point was this is just our turn to miss out.

It's ZR now. Pretty quick changeover. This is worse than even December 19th, 2009.
packbacker
RDU = official new snow hole...Everyone NSEW in our own state got more snow. Ok - I am done with the self pity :-) AFTER THE SOUTHERN HALF OF CENTRAL NC HAD BEEN LASHED WITH SNOW MUCH OF THE DAY INCLUDING TOTALS NEAR 10 INCHES IN ROCKINGHAM AND AS MUCH AS 5-6 IN SOUTHERN PINES... AND 4 TO 5 IN CLINTON... THE LATEST OBSERVED SOUNDINGS AND UPPER AIR DATA SUGGEST GOOD WARM ADVECTION PATTERN CONTINUING TO OVERSPREAD THE REST OF OUR REGION FROM THE SSW AS OF MID EVENING. tazaroo
I'm having a Wildre moment. I was pretty positive up until about 3pm or so and then the writing was on the wall. The first batch barely reached me and gave me half an inch then it melted to nothing and flurries the rest of the day yet the models kept saying 4 or 5 inches of snow up till 18z. Also, the ruc kept showing great omegas overhead for this evening to bring lots of precip my way. I was shown getting over half inch of liqued on nearly every model and I may have reached a tenth. Tried to keep my expectations in check but even cutting models in half should have given me 3 inches. Meanwhile places in my on county received over 2 inches and 5 inches were within 40 miles or so to my south. Guess what has happened. The 2nd batch came through quickly with snow about 5 to 6 pm then set up to my North for hours and expanded on the rest of the triad leaving me in a hole again. Result: half inch if I'm lucky and freezing drizzle is all thats left. Very disappointing storm. Kids are disappointed and wonder if they will even be able to sled tomorrow which I doubt right now. We know somebody has to lose but boy was this awful. Sorry for the rant.
gtg947h
Friday and Saturday need to be warm and sunny; they're the last days of deer season. Bottom can fall out Sunday, I don't care, so long as the two days before are nice.

magpiemaniac
No need to apologize. I understand completely. This "storm" has been a disappointment to most folks (though not all) in the Triad and Triangle. I had my own Brick/WidreMann moment around 2:00 PM today when I had yet at the time seen a single flake all the while having to read obs from folks in Lesser Carolina who were digging themselves out of twenty-foot drifts. I do, however, feel lucky to get what very little has fallen since mid-afternoon and don't at all begrudge others from getting their fair share. My kids were out of school today for our phantom event. (They're out tomorrow, too, but that's understandable since roads might be messy in the morning.) Unfortunately, today and tomorrow must be made up during spring break. The kids aren't happy taking a snow day today without snow yet having to sit in class while it's 70 degrees in April. Jet Stream Rider
On this wv loop you can see our low being sheared. It even tries to make a comeback once in the Atlantic, but then just gets sheared into oblivion. A real pitty. Its what the models indicated would happen though. snowforme
Isn't there a chance for another storm in a week or so? I guess if there is I should probably just accept the fact that we won't get crap again. It blows my mind how pretty much the entire state got snow and the Triangle didn't. I'm happy for everyone who got snow but come on, is getting just one inch when places in the freaking sandhills got 10 inches so much to ask? LMA1973
We've had steady snow and sleet all evening and it hasnt stopped yet. That radar image shows nothing over my area (for some time) but it hasnt stopped. Hmmm.
Moose4
We finally did get some snow in Durham, but it changed over to sleet very quickly, with a pretty good burst of it about 7:00 and again about 9:00. There's about a half-inch of white on the ground and the streets are a mess. What I find funny is that the schools around here, who closed early today for a phantom flizzard, are still talking about one (Durham) or two (Wake) hours late tomorrow. That'll change, I'm fairly sure, if we continue to get freezing rain tonight. The sneet stuck instantly on the residential street I'm on, and isn't going anywhere. Glaze that over with some freezing rain and a forecast low of 25, and tomorrow morning will be ugly.

Brick Tamland
This last storm was more annoying than anything. kvegas-wx
Glad to see you all have lost your freakin' minds here in the banter thread. But listen, I need some quick assistance from my SE peeps that have experience up in NY/CT. I'm flying out of GSO thursday afternoon headed for Hartford. Based on what I can gather from a cross-thread search, those guys are looking at 12-18" with blizzard conditions thru Wednesday night. Assuming I can even get there, any of you educated folks want to tell me what to expect? Can those road crews move that much snow in 24 hours? Otherwise, I need to cancel this trip fast. magpiemaniac
My children have been out of school for three days now and I think I'm ready for them to return. I took them to a movie this afternoon to reduce the cabin fever. Still no word from Guilford County Schools regarding whether they'll be out on Thursday. I'd imagine that many of the outlying county roads are still in bad shape.

Marion_NC_WX
After missing out 4th consecutive day in a row, the local school system here in McDowell County has made the decision to have school not only this Saturday, but also Monday, MLK Day...I don't ever remember our school system going on Saturday's, they never did when I was young. I'm sure that will spark some debate in the community.
