Midwest Thanksgiving Storm...

Yeah it is off a county or two. That is the new algorithm from Mike. Have been watching it awhile - does pretty good. Not perfect - but not bad. Sleeting here at this time :)

I was just looking at radar and wondering if there might be a little PL on the back side as you posted that....wondering if upstream that was occurring....good timing.

Had Ten min of sleet today and twenty min of snow. Light dusting. Nice to get it over with. To my west had more and to my east as well but it happened. The next storm looks to bring us all mostly rain then cold cold

By the time this cold reaches us from the west it weakens, and each storm is so strong it draws moisture and warmth north easily.. We need a real arctic front.

NAM bringing in some heavy snowfall around Detroit later on tonight, looks like that batch of moisture down to the south is moving n/n/e and will be entering s/e Mi? And it looks to be snow. I'm a bit confused..this evening..

Honestly, I'm seeing not where the NAM is bring any snowfall to Detroit tonight. And looking at the radar, it looks like SE MI is about done for the night.

It looks to be occurring immediately along and behind the deformation axis which can be seen along a KARB to KPTK axis right now.

Yep, Flint's reporting blownig snow and Pontiac's getting closer. Of course they're higher in elevation.

There's quite a bit of subsidence moving in however, so I'm questioning if these showers will survive much longer.

In the last 20 mins I went from 44/42 to 41/36 and dropping. I'm watching my dewpoint.

This precip typing is fairly accurate around here - at this time

http://weatherobserv...radar_comp1.htm

That is doing better than the other sites I've been watching, although it is still a little behind. I just got a report from NW franklin county, IN (in the SE part of the state) that they changed to snow and that map has the line a bit west of them but fairly close.

Looks like the transition is happening at the 925mb freezing line which is running well ahead of the 850mb 0C line.
