I only have nine inches here on the se side of Elkhart at Dunlap. Amounts increase dramatically to the nw. Here is a link to some nice snow photos in South Bend courtesy of WSBT-TV.

Just amazing. Would not want to shovel that lol, but I happily would.. Especially like the one of the car attempting to drive through the 20" that is on the road, and they are obviously stuck lol. Some people lol

It is worth noting for comparison that the January Blizzard of 1978 officially dumped 36 inches of snow on South Bend. Of course winds were far higher for that storm, but this gives you some idea of the similar snow amounts albeit much more localized in geographical extent from this lake effect event.

Wicked MODIS satellite shot. I love good lake effect events because you get such clear views of the lake bands.

Also, there is some terrain induced vertical propagating waves and associated lee cirrus on the NE end of Lake Superior.

Since snow began Thursday evening at South Bend their total as of 8 am Sunday is now 38.6 inches from this lake effect event. I currently have zr fog and minus 3 here in Elkhart Dunlap with about 9.5 inches of snow.

FZFG I think is what you mean unless you mean that you are getting freezing rain and fog then it would be FZRA FZFG

If it's feasible, next winter I'm there

Cool video. That was a good event, 23 inches in my backyard which fell within 24 hours. There was some really intense snowfall - I remember driving towards an intersection with a median after leaving a parking lot, and I drove on the wrong side of the median because it was totally obliterated by snow and I had no point of reference as to where the road or the median was.... The only time I knew I had made an error was when an oncoming car came towards me and I had to back up.:arrowhead:

Hey Mike - come on board man. It'll be great to have a local guy who knows what you do - I am just a weather observer. I know enough to keep my mouth shut about any forecasting stuff.

That snow is  . But that dude in the video has issues.

Cameraman did a good job of capturing the beauty of it. Love that sound heavy snow makes when it's hitting the ground too.

wrt to the guy, I'm not sure someone who needs a replacement heart valve should be shovelling snow. Although I'm thinking alot of these medical problems are in his head.

Thanks for the kind words Alan. I'll try my best to be there next winter but I'm thinking it'll take a little longer than that. It would really be a blast to get clocked with snow measured in feet.
