Probably Long Beach. Seriously, I'm not saying that to bust on JM.

Im sure we did better in the Blizzard of 1888 haha. The other times we might have jackpotted were the winters of 47-48, 60-61, 82-83 and 02-03..... yup few and far between lol.

you drag it out of me william...favorite quote all time

Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.

You got screwed by living on a barrier island therefore getting easily flooded by the warmer air. I got rained on for hours on Tuesday and still have a solid 4 or 5 inches of snow on the ground. Well, it's not snow but cement. Even in open fields where the sun hits it directly they are solidly snowcovered.

State College was still worse, trust me on that. Tonight they should get hit pretty good for a while though. It's snowing heavily in western PA and Ohio, and it's headed toward them.

We usually do get less than our north shore areas on LI, but we get our fair share of big time hits as well. 12/19/09 was very bad here, the 12/26 blizzard was FEROCIOUS, and in terms of overall effect I would have to say it was as bad here as it was anywhere due to the 60 mph winds, even if the snow was somewhat less than E NJ had. I can't remember the last time my house shook and power flickered like it did in a snowstorm. PDII hit us very hard, as did 1/22/05, 12/30/00 and 3/1/09. The 1/12 storm was intense for a while, but once that insane deformation band formed over central LI and CT, subsidence took over here and cut us off. It was about an 8 hour storm, 10" or so in that timeframe. What killed us the other day was the coastal front passing us and us torching to the mid 40s for hours, with a stiff east wind. That's about as bad a snowkiller as there is, probably just as bad as mid April sun.

Just in terms of a ferocious nor'easter though, the mid March storm last year has to be about the worst I've experienced here. The wind knocked maybe over 100 trees down in this area and parts of Long Beach had no power for a week. Overall, the beach erosion was terrible last winter as well and it took months to fully recover. One day, the right storm or probably hurricane is going to knock us out of commission for a long time indeed.

Guest Patrick

I was thinking the same thing today... but I guess it's all relative.

If this had been a 'typical' La Nina winter, the board would be going nuts right now over the possibility of 4" of snow.

I am a huge snow fan, but at this point, even I feel like it is more fun to track the big ones sometimes....but when the flakes start falling later on, I'll be outside, in amazement, as I always am =)

It is amazing how quiet this board is, considering the threat of a widespread 4"+ snowfall.
