SomeguyfromTakomaPark
Through 48 is the PV moving out a little quicker or is that just wishful thinking?
usedtobe
QPF placement field is more north on the 12z GFS than it was on the 12z NAM at 48 The western trough looks a little stronger at 48hrs unless that's an illusion on my part.

stormtracker
well at 54 hours, the h5 maps look better vs 6z or 0z
usedtobe
Take a look with your trained eye. At 54, I'm not sure, looks pretty similar to me except the old 60 hr had more vorticity i the west end of the western trough which might mean something down the road. PhineasC
Through 66HR, I am not thinking this will be all that great. Looks pretty flat.

baroclinic_instability
Through 66HR, I am not thinking this will be all that great. Looks pretty flat. A tad flatter but slower/farther W through 78. Hard to say what effects that will have.
TowsonWeather
Through 66HR, I am not thinking this will be all that great. Looks pretty flat. Agreed, unfortunately...energy isn't quite as strong and everything is a smidge flatter.

usedtobe
low further west this run The 850 low is more consolidated to the west which should help the dc area some.
Porsche
hr 108 sub 1012 low bout 150 miles east of hse...missed the phase, the northern stream was just lagging the whole time, wasn't nearly as amplified. Um sounds good in this thread but not what Tombo says.

baroclinic_instability
Um sounds good in this thread but not what Tombo says. Because NYC/Philly wants a coastal bomb. A coastal bomb actually would not be good for others including DC/BA.

PhineasC
Still not meshing with ensembles That's fine. If the ensembles and other globals continue to be more impressive, you can give less weight to the operational GFS.

PhineasC
500 looks a smidge worse imby but it's close enough not to really matter Yeah, I agree. This run really didn't do anything whacky from 00Z. I think that is a win for the GFS.
BaltimoreWxGuy
For Maryland, 12Z is worse than 6z...might be better for VA though.
