HFD looks like they're in fine shape. Why does someone think they won't see a good 3-6?

the band is making very little progress Northward.....and it's supposed to produce 1-2 inch an hour snow for another 3 hours or so...per norman ok bulletin.....and then weaken so they need to get into it in the next hour or so ....to get 3-6 i would think. i think latitude hurts with this one over the connecticut area.

 I posted that this afternoon. It was awesome. Wish I heard some thunder but we did have a couple nice gusts with one biggie early in the event. Considering there was zero wind otherwise...yeahhh!

I so would have given ANYTHING to experience that.

Reminds me of the sutff that happened on the coast of ME, during the Thanksgiving 2005 storm. I think a tornado touched down ne of PWM iirc. Those waters provide serious instability, when upper levels are frigid.

In any case, I enjoy these NORLUN events. Someone always comes in a huge winner when everything lines up, and this happened over sw ct.

Yeah I was just talking to someone about this. Mentioned the PWM tornado and also one time like back in the 50's where a tornado touched down like on Cape Cod during a blizzard. God I hope I can somehow get thunder.

Upton is knocking it out of the park these days......They've got some top shelf talent on staff

Yeah some good stuff coming out of Upton recently, and Gray is starting to step it up, assisted by Ekster. And Taunton is business as usual. Got some great forecast offices covering New England.

3.5 inches in Middletown, CT, including an inch in the past half hour. Heavy snow with huge dendrites.

Speaking of the 18" in Bridgewater, I lived in Bridgewater during the winter of 95-96. That was fun. They have some very high points (around '900 feet up 2nd Hill Road, if I remember correctly). If there are reliable reports of 14" out of New Milford, I'd believe 18" in the higher elevations of Bridgewater.

OMFG THIS IS SICK

ISOLATED LOW TOPPED TSTMS...SOME WITH LOWLEVEL ROTATION...DEVELOPED ALONG THE CONVERGENCE LINE JUST S OF THEOFFICE...QUITE RARE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR AND MORE TYPICAL OF MIDSUMMER!

Funny, I saw those diamond shapes Wunderground uses to denote the mesocyclones on their radar this afternoon. I just figured the snow was playing havoc with the radar.

If there happened to be anything tornadic during this I'm not sure what I'd do. This is just incredible. CT has been amazing the past few years, 5 tornadoes in 2010, 3 tornadoes in 2009 and now this...WOW.

Dude...the recycling bin shot, WHOA. Congrats.

No kidding. That one really made it hit home for me.

This may go down as my #1 storm. Had 19" in Detroit (yup) when I was a kid (an anomalous NE wind setup of Lake St. Clair in early Dec) and then 15" in 2/06. This one was so totally unexpected, though, that it still takes my breath away!

That's about 2 miles south of me. I am VERY tempted to go down with the weenie ruler and see if the 18" verifies...
