Probably. It looked ideal on the soundings since yesterday. I'm not shocked at the amounts that they had down in sw ct. We had crappy flakes with that oes here, but perhaps a little extra lift and slightly colder air is helping you out.

There was also no wind. Basically most ingredients came together for ridiculous ratios down that way.

When it first started snowing earlier, it was these little tiny horrible flakes but as soon as the radar blossomed to about 15 dbz they turned into perfect puffy flakes that are great for ratios. Probably generated enough lift in the SG region. I'd love to try and pivot that main CT band up into here later combined with the good 060 flow and see if we can have some fun, but I'm worried it will weaken too much by then.

Yeah I believe totals near 12"...that sounds reasonable, but 18" seemed high. But who knows for sure.

Maybe it's with some leftover blizzard snow? I'll say this, my storm total was 5.4 but it looks like 8-9 outside at least because of what is leftover combined with the fact we had no wind outside of the initial gusts.

Will that band ever make up to me? If so, how long you think it snows?

i believe you

but why don't you throw up a weenie pic with the ruler sticking into the snow. that would be the best. and everyone here would be drooling

Give me a few and you shall have it!

Re Kev's Dad- I don't know where he lives in New Milford, but the town is (1) huge [65 sq miles] and (2) has tremendous elevation differences. The main portion of town is at 220' ASL. Mine Hill, where I live (on town line with both Bridgewater and Roxbury) is about 900' ASL at it's summit. This elevation frequently gives me more snow than in town, particularly as I am on the east slope of the hill overlooking the Shepaug River

7.5" final total in Ridgefield, Ct. at roughly 600' - Drove up towards 84 earlier and there were totals of up to 9 to our north, maybe 10 in the most elevated locales.

I do believe the reports of 12" near New Milford and also think GHWhiz is probably not inflating... there were a few times last winter when NYC was getting 12-18" and he was reporting 4" or something like that...

Speaking of which, this looks like another fizzler for the Hartford area... can someone tell me the last time they got 8+ inches of snow? All I can recall the last several years is them getting screwed over time and time again.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of power outages considering the way the trees and power lines are starting to droop down. Still snowing at a good pace, measured a bunch of places.. strange results.. (8.2 inches on top of car, 6.8 inches on road, 7.8 inches on grass, 7.6 inches on sidewalk. 7.6 inches on placed snowboard.. 8.0 inches on air conditioner..) Not sure which is most accurate, probably around 7.2 inches total here so far.

That's about 6 or 7 miles NW of me. So a difference would not be unexpected.

I believe you man. No questioning from me. Trust me..I take accurate measurements and get questioned all the time..so I certainly would never do to someone else what others do to me. Congrats out there. 2 12 inch + storms in less than 2 weeks

OMFG THIS IS SICK

ISOLATED LOW TOPPED TSTMS...SOME WITH LOWLEVEL ROTATION...DEVELOPED ALONG THE CONVERGENCE LINE JUST S OF THEOFFICE...QUITE RARE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR AND MORE TYPICAL OF MIDSUMMER!

 I posted that this afternoon. It was awesome. Wish I heard some thunder but we did have a couple nice gusts with one biggie early in the event. Considering there was zero wind otherwise...yeahhh!

Reminds me of the sutff that happened on the coast of ME, during the Thanksgiving 2005 storm. I think a tornado touched down ne of PWM iirc. Those waters provide serious instability, when upper levels are frigid.

In any case, I enjoy these NORLUN events. Someone always comes in a huge winner when everything lines up, and this happened over sw ct.
