Ahh, heaviest snow i've seen all day over us right now. Figures, right on the tail end of the storm!!

Mess low and possible gravity wave was in the mix today down there, I did not want to say it but now confirmed by OKX but I was looking at rotation for a while, thought I was nuts. Saw some reports of quick intense winds followed by heave heavy. I am banging the OKX discussion and lol too, inverted trough into comma from LP, too funny from flame war earlier.

I suppose its possible, but it sounds quite high to me.

Where did you get 14" in Danbury? I heard mostly 9-10" reports in these threads and it has stopped there now.

Please tell me Danbury didn't get 14"...I make forecasts for them and I said 3-6"..I have no idea how I'll explain myself.

Not impossible...nearly happened here in Feb '06. Had 4''/HR rates for just over 3 hours.

Yeah, I think it was basically..

Coastal areas like me: ~1" per hour

Hills a bit further inland: ~2" per hour

Danbury and upslope east: ~2-3" per hour

there was a met in danbury who reported 9 i believe....thou there could be variations within the city limits since they straddled that heavy band

i think there was a 12 lolli somewhere......

DXR had 8.5 from Quincy. Sounds like Ryan's inflating totals

The highest I see is 12" from Southbury about 25 min ago...I think their snow is done as well. I'm sure there's a few lollis a tad higher, but 18" sounds kind of ridiculous, but I don't know the area well enough to say for sure.

I wouldn't worry about it dude...how many people actually called for something that high in that area? I also said 3-6'' with isolated higher amounts for that area lol.

Pretty neat seeing that band blossom over the weenie hills of ORH.

Its actually coming down quite steadily here now. Very good puffy flakes. The vis is only down to like 2 miles but the snow accumulates well with those flakes.

There's some hills out there. My dad lives in New Milford..and he doesn't have as much as Ryan says they had. Sounds like StephinCt is is driving all over Western CT with his ruler

Believe it. I just measured 13" even at 5 separate locations on my property (areas that were clear following the Boxing Day storm). Remember that we are 60 miles or more from each of the NWS radar sites, and at elevation, so what you see on radar may not necessarily what we are getting.

pretty neat being 12 miles east of it....weenie flurries /sn- falling here

i wonder if the hills of ORH will be the eastern fringe of a nice little area of 3-6 tonite as the best forcing rotates N up thru VT/NH.

I have 14" in New Milford, Danbury and Brookfield.

Southbury/Bridgewater have been getting even heavier snow so I think it's possible.

Heavier snows always bring out the weenies with their slanted rulers. A few will always think its "fun" to get higher totals that are seen on the air.

If we could get this to come down harder, it would really be able to take advantage of great ratios. Looking at the flakes stick outside, its probably like 20 or 25 to 1 ratio type snow right now.

i believe you

but why don't you throw up a weenie pic with the ruler sticking into the snow. that would be the best. and everyone here would be drooling

Yeah I believe totals near 12"...that sounds reasonable, but 18" seemed high. But who knows for sure.

Probably. It looked ideal on the soundings since yesterday. I'm not shocked at the amounts that they had down in sw ct. We had crappy flakes with that oes here, but perhaps a little extra lift and slightly colder air is helping you out.
