these snow totals have to be under done WNC surely will get 8 + on everything I've seen.

Never say "surely" about anything. Most of the global models are not showing 8"+ for WNC. I agree that my totals for NC might be a little conservative, but there is still plenty of time to raise these totals tomorrow if need be.

I pulled out the crayons for this storm...this is my first ever map for Western North Carolina (West of Charlotte) and most of South Carolina...we'll see how it goes.

BTW, here is the Color Legend for these maps...

Sky Blue: 3-5 inches of snow

Royal Blue: 5-8 inches of snow

Yellow: 3-6 inches of snow, mixed with sleet and some glaze

Purple: 2-4 inches of snow, then transition to sleet and some glaze

Light Green: 1-3 inches of snow, then transition to .25 frz rain

Pine Green: 1 inch or less of snow, .25 to .50 ice

Jeremy wins IMO. Good maps everyone. Sad some are doing maps with NC in them but leaving out central to east NC...I guess that's a "non-event" for us per yalls maps? Just checking.

0-20" widespread is my call lol! Can't wait for the nowcast guys.

I think its more of a "no one knows what is going to happen in Central NC" at this point. Three days ago I heard people saying we could get 8 inches up here, then it completely dried out on the model runs, now its beginning to look wetter up this way. They don't know, and don't want to look stupid because to be honest I don't think WRAL, WTVD, NBC17, Accu, TWC, NWS, or anyone on here has a good grasp on this situation. I sure as heck don't, I just come on here to try and learn from other folks' posts. Whatever happened to this storm being easier to forecast compared to the Xmas storm? laugh.gif

Here is my convoluted map..hopefully this puts me in the weenie HOF. Sorry points west of GA and up into TN I didn't really focus on you guys. I forgot to add that little white dot NW of RDU is Widre's house. He can expect high clouds.

Too much bust potential either way! I was going to put a dusting to 2 inches but I figured someone with more expertise could focus on you guys like Allan.guitar.gif

Yeah I'm totally kidding. I'm thinking we will have less issues with mixing, but we've just gotta get that precip up this way. It's looking better and better, but its gotta keep going! popcorn.gif

Here's the color legend for the North Carolina Map...of course with a little Tobacco Road humor

Tarheels: 3-6 inches

Dukies: 6-9, with mix especially south of I-40

Wolfpack Red: The big winners with 10 or more...I'm thinking someone over around Highlands or Rosman are gonna get the jackpot.

South Carolina Color Legend:

Red: 10 or more

Royal Blue: 5-8 with mixing especially 85 and south

Purple: 3-5 inch burst followed by sleet/frz rain

Light Green 1-3 inches, .25 or more ice

Dark Green: 1 inch or less snow, .25 or more ice inland, changes to a cold rain along the immediate coastline (Georgetown County and south)
