SmokeEater
I think keeping threads separate inside 24 is good too, however - Tom, I believe you should extend your snowfall maps (much appreciated by the way) to include RIC out to State College and up to BOS as folks outside the Mt holly will continue to ask you to extend for there area. He doesn't live in RIC's, State College, or BOS's regions. That's what their subforums are for. He doesn't do maps for outside our subforum region, and people living in other regions shouldn't expect him to. What's the point of subforums then? Thunder Road
Just something I've always been wondering... Are the 48 hours of the GGEM just the RGEM? Or are they separate models like our NAM & GFS?
Rib
Some parts of NJ got hammered too. To me the preposterous nature of the split is shown by the proposed euro map. It's the whole sub forum ex NE NJ, Manhattan and LI. Are they some micro climate? Last year PHL got creamed and I got screwed routinely. I see no utility in the split as a general rule. If others do, please explain, why the views of the NY crew about the possible coastal next week would be any different from those of the rest of the subforum. Couple things. First, the medium range threads where storms that are still in the medium range are discussed are still going to be in one thread. The only difference is how close until we split. I'm trying this for Jan 11-14, but that could be changed after. We shouldn't have one thread have 95% of the subforum's posts. Dec 26-27 didn't have much to do with the split. It's something that came up last winter too.

The latter. The RGEM is the regional mesoscale model from the CMC.

For everything else, we have a respectful disagreement. To me next weeks event IS the medium range, and the test should have been run on the norlun. Thanks for your hard work all the same. I know myself for instance living in South Central PA (Cumberland County), I dont fit into any subforum. That is why some are asking for Tom to bring the map a little farther west to get those areas that dont fit into NY/Philly metro or Upstate NY/Pennsylvania or midatlantic subforums
Thunder Road
The latter. The RGEM is the regional mesoscale model from the CMC. Ah thanks. I have one site in my favorites from way back that has the CMC out to 120, but the first 48 hrs are hi-res, which is where I got the idea I guess. whiteout
You could be considered part of the Upstate subforum, or the Mid Atlantic subforum, or PHL. Yeah the problem is COULD. So since your a MOD where should I expect to have my area covered?? That is why I was asking Tom to sort of include us in here because we do not fit into anywhere clear cut. Rib
For the regional breakdown, if you were wondering where to post, NYC includes NYC, North Jersey, Long Island, and Southern CT. Small area geographically but has a very high poster density. PHL includes PHL, Central and South Jersey, Eastern and Northeast PA, and Delaware. I thought the 81 corridor from 80-N including the Poconos was kind of the red-headed stepchild of this subforum. It's tough to post in the NY/PA subforum because it's mostly quiet over there. tombo82685
through hr 60 the northern stream out west seems slower, and the pv is a little more overwelming knocking down the hgts on the east coast so far. Pv is further south also
tombo82685
through hr 84, the pv is alittle further south surpressing some the hgts on the ec a little...better ridge extending up into mn, the norther stream is digging better than 18z..
