Pleasently surpised to hear that. Absolutely nothing but wet ground here in Hauppauge at my office. Had moderate snow for about 20 minutes, otherwise mostly light snow and snizzle. Hoping my house is doing as well as Port Jeff..

Similar here in Smithtown. Not snizzle, but lots of small poorly formed flakes right now. We are on our second coating of the day now, but the nice big flakes have ended for now. The band from about Bellport up to Mt Sinai that is a bit more broken now looked like it really meant business for a while. I can imagine a couple of inches fell somewhere along that line.

Keep in mind, the areas in PA and some other areas, this is actually the entire of tommorrow's storm because it already shows no precip at 12 hrs in many of those areas over PA. And the areas over NJ show .1-.25 precip after the first 12 hours so you have to back that out accordingly and translate this further east also. I gave estimates as best I could in my earlier post. Anyway, it looks very much similar to the EC. That gives you a rough idea of the path and intensity if you track the precip from Harrisburg East. Basically look at the cone shape from the PA, MD border north and east. That is the path and intensity and it intensifies more as you get into central NJ and especially along Long Island and coastal CT.

ARW's total precip from this storm and tomorrow's storm

NYC east is getting hurt by surface temps. If this were a night time event, they would have 3"-4", just like Jersey.

It might have been as bad or worse because you'd have had to lose all the solar heating obtained from the day...had it come in at 3 or 4am it would have been better, but not if it was within 6 hours of sunset.

That's about when snow started in PA and Western NJ. Even if snow started late afternoon/early evening it would have been better than mid to late morning I think

31F mod occasionally heavy snow up in the HV over past hour. First decent intensity of the day. Flake size and variation for most of the morning suggested best lift below max dendritic growth zone. Vis was very low however despite mostly light snow. Past hour flake size has increased substantially with some dendrites but appears the aggregation is due to near freezing temps. Rough measure of ratios yields about 15:1, which is much better than during the blizzard. Refused to look at recent radar to enjoy what's falling to the max. Probably nearing 4" accumulation.

We are getting hurt by lack of QPF, not surface temps. The ground is cold as evidenced by light snow sticking on the sidewalks/driveways with a temp of 34.

If we got under precip with the same type of radar returns as NE NJ, we'd have the 3 - 4" also. That being said, this is a rather convective event in nature as many have been saying since last night and there will continue to be some areas that pick up a couple or a few inches while others close by get little. I was one of the last holdouts for the more organized Norlun type of scenario, but that isn't looking good. On the other hand...Saturday - Saturday night is really looking like something to watch. I'm still skeptical, but getting pretty interested.

Snowing decently now here, but its basically been a scenario with off and on snowshowers that coat the ground.

Hey! I was in Bayonne at a doctor's appointment but I just got back and measured and came up with a resounding 2.1". I don't know why people just to my NW are reporting almost double that. Unfortunately my snow board has been buried and I forgot to dig it out so I have been measuring in my backyard but yeah, I don't think we have over 2.5"...

2 inches here as well. Nice little event.
