psv88
I can now say that for Central Nassau, as the radar is dying out, that this event was a complete bust. .3 of snow. See you all tomorrow.

Dsnowx53
It's not all about temps, though. We were stuck in an area of subsidence, which allowed us to warm up--had we actually been in the banding, the temps would have come down.
Edge Weather
I get it from a pay site, Wright-Weather. The same site that CNN and the Weather Channel use. map?

Yup, all about intensity. 30 minutes ago we were 34, snowing lightly with no accum. Now we have moderate to heavy wet snow, 32.5 degrees and starting to stick everywhere. Edge Weather
This is JUST FOR TOMORROW. I checked very carefully in order to avoid that potential problem. Again, the 12z WRF-ARW shows just for tomorrow - Precip wise it brings an area from about Harrisburg to Baltimore, all of Eastern PA, all of NJ, all of CT, and SE NY state at least 3-4 inches of snow tomorrow, with possibly a bit more in Central NJ and possibly even more than that on Long Island maybe around 6 inches or so, and coastal CT could get a foot according to the WRF-ARW. This is just for tommorow? Or does this include accumulations from today.

Now we have moderate to heavy wet snow, 32.5 degrees and starting to stick everywhere. Yeah, exactly. The SE winds obviously don't help things, but considering how cold the upper levels were, heavy banding that almost everyone else got would have been enough to cool the BL. Stormlover74
And we thought today was hard to forecast for (though not really as 2 to 4 was a good bet all along). Tomorrow especially for areas on the coast and further south is going to be a major forecasting nightmare. This is JUST FOR TOMORROW. I checked very carefully in order to avoid that potential problem.
Dsnowx53

Very true Doug.Dont worry,we will have several more chances this month. Yeah, exactly. I'm a little annoyed, but it's hard to complain considering the great blizzard we just had, and the potential we have down the road. I was never optimistic for this one. At least it's nice to see some snow falling. Congrats to the people in Jersey who did well.

I got heavy banding for a good 15 minutes and it never stuck to the streets. Dusted the grasses.

Well 15 minutes isn't exactly a long period of time. Look at the banding that formed in the Nassau/Suffolk border, and is now in Suffolk--that banding seems like it's going to persist, and many people in the area are reporting dropping temps. Edge Weather
Euro has .25-.5 for the entire area tomorrow just like the WRF-ARW.
NEXtreme
Not over yet ... .LI will be in it for a while...another band is forming along the the jersey coast and bending west into Elizabeth heading NE. If it gets into NEJ where 3-4" has already fallen then 6" might be doable... NWS is now saying 4-6 with some higher amounts in these areas. supermeh
Euro has .25-.5 for the entire area just like the WRF-ARW. Wow! Can you put out QPF amounts for areas? If you wouldn't mind. It would be much appreciated.

jasonli18t
Euro has .25-.5 for the entire area just like the WRF-ARW. Is it any colder at the surface for tomorrow? I would assume low pressure off the coast would turn winds more northeast.
Dsnowx53
Moderate snow now with huge flakes. It's trying its best to accumulate. Meh, the huge flakes that were actually accumulating lasted about 10 minutes. Back to smaller flakes now. Still kind of cool to walk outside with those huge flakes and having them stick everywhere on you. Maybe we can get that band from E NJ.
NJwinter23
I've been peaking out my window this morning randomly between naps...We have a trace right now at best on the grass..We were never snowing heavily once, not even now with a decent band over me. We were in a precip hole through 930am at least as places 10 miles north were snowing lightly with a half inch being reported, surface temps are definitely bad and werent helped because of that. I'm gonna drive across town into the hills where they are usually 1 degree colder than my house and I bet they have an inch. If that 12z nam precip hole tmrw occurs ill be a little ticked
Edge Weather
What area? I can guess a little. Just have to back out today's precip from the totals. But the entire area looks to get at least 2 inches tomorrow from the EC. What are you looking for? Euro has .25-.5 for the entire area tomorrow just like the WRF-ARW. danstorm
SN here in Ridgefield, Ct. I estimate visibility at 3/8. Just took a measurement and we are at 0.8, with probably 0.5" having fallen in the last hour or so. Really gentle, quiet, beautiful storm. I live in NYC but am working from my dad's house today in Ct. and witnessing a snowstorm in a rural location is such a wonderfully peaceful experience. Snowshack
Snowing decently since about 11:00 AM here in Port Jefferson. Coming down fairly heavily as I type. About one inch of new snow so far today. Pleasently surpised to hear that. Absolutely nothing but wet ground here in Hauppauge at my office. Had moderate snow for about 20 minutes, otherwise mostly light snow and snizzle. Hoping my house is doing as well as Port Jeff..
Stormlover74
Highs were supposed to be in the low 30s tomorrow without precip so I'd imagine we'd be even colder if moderate snow breaks out. Is it any colder at the surface for tomorrow? I would assume low pressure off the coast would turn winds more northeast.
