No wonder I'm a feelin' like a dumb bunny a-tryin' to learn more how the tech stuff works on this particular setup.......you nailed it!!!

We'll see. :). I don't know. I'm just feeling ultra negative on the whole thing today. The one positive thing I guess is that the weather can always surprise us. I suppose that's one of the reasons we all like it so much.

So since everyone pretty much ignores my forecast's should I stop making them? .

No...do not stop....I've read your forecasts twice today.

Besides, I've started a spreadsheet of posters, their calls, and when they make those calls & what verfies.

Only way to hedge my bets w/ regards to who's full of it & who ain't! LOL!!

Forecasting weather is like tossing hand grenades......close enough is all that matters, cause the targets are either real lucky or not.

Heck no! I'm looking forward to seeing your call map tonight. (Also, I've been sending new fans your way -- people in the Pinehurst area.) And if your news is better than Allan Huffman's, whose latest map had me getting "1 inch or less of snow then mostly rain," then I'll happily weigh that into the equation. And if by chance you already know of some good-news tidbit you can drop on us flatlanders, right now would not be too soon to spill it. Because quite a few of us can just feel this chance at a nice storm slipping through our trembling fingers.

Of course, I'm thinking about east of the fall line, which I realize is sort of a moron thing to do around here.

Thanks guys I just wasn't sure how they were being received. Call map is coming for sure. In advance I still think 2-4 is reasonable with the ice to follow.

They are well received! :). Since this is apprears to be more of a GA, SC, and western NC storm, the other thread is flooded with posters from those regions, as would be expected. It looks like most of the Central/Eastern NC peeps have gone over the cliff. I'm currently typing while falling right now, for instance.

Mets, whether hobbyists or pros, are kinda like firefighters.

With firefighters, there's only a thin line separating them and arsonists. LOL!!

I've prepped for significant ice over a couple inches if sn here IMBY.......sometimes my left knee and right elbow are better at forecasting than The Fish (Greg Fishel).

In the last few years wasting my life reading this board and others, I have learned one truth:

If you pin your hopes on something happening that the models aren't showing, you will be disappointed 99% of the time.

The models are not showing good things for RDU. I have a feeling most of our qpf comes in the form of ip/zr, followed by rain.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

Definitely wish I was back home in the Foothills of NC for this one, since the models are looking less than impressive here in SE VA. Looks like 3-5 inches look a good bet for the Western Piedmont of NC, we will be lucky to get an inch here. On another note, we had a THUNDER SNOW shower here today in Norfolk, About 1/2 inch of snow fell in 10-15 minutes with wind gusts of over 30 mph, it was insane!!

Dropped to 30F here and it was a great drop from about 3PM and the winds have been howling from the NW. There feels like there is a winter storm on the way and based on all modeling, there is! I am excited about it and I will not apologize for my excitement for this POTENTIAL, once every 15 year or so event. I mean, good gravy folks! I cannot count the amount of times that the guys here in GA pulled for our SE counterparts while sitting on the sidelines. None of us can control it so be glad at least someone may get something. Some of you are getting snow and still complaining. I just don't get it. One more thing before I descend from my soapbox. I, believe it or not, have very little spare time on my hands. During the winter months, I spend a good bit here and then on the climate forum during the summer. I have been around most of you since WWBB days. I cannot believe we are now getting posts deleted when we thank someone for taking the trouble to respond to an answer. There has to be SOME social discourse allowed except for the incipient IMBY posts and geographical semantics. I am, quite frankly offended. I really hope some folks shed a little bit of that self-importance that has come upon them due to a title (whether permanent or temporary). We are all not robots here so some social discourse should be tolerated but who am I? Just a schmuck without a Red or Yellow tag. Some of you guys may figure out that you need us lowly members someday too.

Rant off.

To my neighbors.....Go forth and enjoy your fooking snow storm. You have been waiting on this!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pulling for you guys, but I'm still disappointed for me.

As for the moderating, I don't have a problem with keeping the threads clean from clutter. But I do think there is a bit of over-moderation. Some people can complain and gripe, and their posts remain. Post which have nothing to do with the evolution of the upcoming storm, nor do they detail any actual meteorology behind what's going on or offer any science as to what is going to occur. But posts which thank people for answering a question or even other comments about the current situation are deleted. As I said, I understand not wanting to clutter the threads, but as has always been the case and as always will be the case, certain posters will be allowed to pretty much post whatever, while others' get deleted. That's just the way it is. If you want the freedom to post on a public board like this, then you must be willing to do so from behind the bars of rules that are set up, whether they are governed fairly or not.

I completely understand as I am a Senior Mod for a BAMA football forum. You think people here go crazy about weather? Try being a Mod on a BAMA board with the Aubies playing for a Nat. Championship. You would have thought we had lost 7 games! LOL! This goes a little beyond what you are saying but I digress... I have no problem following the rules it's just that the rules are not standard or evenly applied therefore sending the wrong, maybe, unintended signal.

Anyway....looking forward to tomorrow night and I really hope everyone has a great weekend and good luck!

SO the seahawks just beat the Saints.

Yep, This storm will over preform.

FYI, I could care less for either. Just love an underdog.

"yes please :) "

Per Foothills write up

"In fact, with northeast and easterly flow from the surface to 950, and southeasterly flow at 850 for the duration, some foothills enhancement could show up in meso banding around the Upstate of South Carolina and western NC between Charlotte Hickory and Anderson. Unfortunately, we can only predict that type of occurrence when its imminent."

Why is there like nobody posting in the main thread? Are the mods deleting that many posts? You would think at a time like this the board would be cranking! Theres like 2 posts every 5-10 minutes

Mods aren't deleting posts, people just aren't posting. Partly because not much has changed over the past several hours, partly because people have been scared off.
