Ginx snewx
A crushing hit for all SNE on the Nogaps. Load it ..then lock it Wills post on EMA threw me off until the maps were posted, NW deform band gets lots of people, not bad. Details details details, on to tomorrows runs
Baroclinic Zone
18Z ensembles look better than the op both in position of mslp and qpf....way better for some areas. Specifically, the eastern 1/2 of CT, all of MA, all of RI, all of NH/VT get 0.5+. ME gets royally screwed. Nope...ME scores late. Basically all of NE with 0.5+ on the 18Z GFS ensembles. Typhoon Tip
The 18z NOGAPS slides the leading edge under us and then the whole vortex joins it and gives E MA a HECS, lol. which is a westward trend from 12z on a model that routinely can't see amplitude -

bobbutts
Actually last night it said 12.5 so it probably isnt from last night. the weird thing is if you punch in worcester it shows 0.0 Highly inaccurate at best I like the coolwx output from the NAM/GFS much better.. http://coolwx.com/cgi-bin/getbufr.cgi?region=NH&stn=KCON&model=gfs&time=current&field=prec
ski MRG
Wills post on EMA threw me off until the maps were posted, NW deform band gets lots of people, not bad. Details details details, on to tomorrows runs Catching up on things. Seems like poor Blizz was fighting the good fight alone this afternoon. All the long faces despite the fact that a prolonged period of snow is quite likely. Will it be a big thump, possibly, but accumulating snow of at least 3-6" here seems quite likely. Even if it's a light snow falling over several days that will be awesome, beats clear blue. The future looks cold and snowy as well. Life is good. Skiing Hunter Mtn. in the Catskills tomorrow, try to get there 1-2 times a season. Winter is fun beyond the computer.

Ginx snewx
What a mess modeling is once again. Troubling developments on the 5h front but who the hell knows, um day eight, yea ok, not. Day by day like a good junkie should. My clipper fix today was a no show. I am confidant of at least something .
ski MRG
Not much cover in the Catskills? I'm sure there is some natural cover but it matters not at Hunter. Quite an impressive snowmaking system there. They have nearly all of their steep terrain open w/30-72" base. Steep terrain is tough to come by currently and that's really all we're interested in. Not my favorite mountain but have friends on Patrol there and they say it's actually skiing well. Some good bump runs on the West side. Things look to improve drastically regionwide in the next10 days or so. I still feel that the end of this week will perform better than most seem to be currently thinking. CoT for ftw. I don't think anyone is, Pete. I fear in your COT zeal, you are underestimating the satisfaction we all will have with any snow. That said, we are all finding it comical (I think) about how every model on every run is showing things differently.

I'm just hoping to see a slowdown in the 2nd system as the idea of it blasting out in time is gone, now we need it to slow down so much it's around to be captured or is the actual main system. moneypitmike
Actually feeling good about snow cover upcoming but the model flips are funny. Precisely, Steve. I'm also eager to have some real cold if we can get that to work in. I'm mostly disappointed that I'll be in MD this weekend and will missthe snow falling (other than what comes on Friday as I drive down).

It's the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" approach to getting snow.
CoastalWx
I know I mentioned it before, but even the euro ensembles seem to hint at solutions that might be swfe or cstl huggers as the PV goes west a bit. With the trough that far west, it could be active, but it's possible not everyone has frozen. Overall it looks good with the pattern seemingly active. Active = Good. CoastalWx
Scott--are you speaking about next week? Not necessarily next week, but beyond. Next week could be a cstl hugger, but obviously we are early. It does have a decent high which is good.
