TowsonWeather
Based on the weenie radar, is this thing going further OTS than even the GTS forecast? Unreal. At this point no snow at all is the perfect middle finger end to this fiasco. The stuff you see going "OTS" is not what we will supposedly be getting. Don't look just at the radar. real
I was just going to say the same thing. This may sound overly conceited of me, but I would gladly give up our 2 inch snowfall if it means everyone to north also at least sees their snowfall forecasts cut in half or 2/3. Maybe then people will learn, more often than not, we are in this together.

Ian
plz remember we have an obs thread too.. anything outside models/other places maps etc can go there. i.e., radar discussion etc. http://www.americanwx.com/bb/index.php?/topic/8486-january-11-12-storm-obsdiscussion/
Symblized
We will have a HECS again...where the models show 20-25 inches of snow. I dont feel that bad about this storm because the models never gave us anything good to begin with. The Dec 26 was much worse So true. Other than a couple of quirky runs this time around, models (not crazy bufkit ratios, but realistic rations) have been showing 1-5 inches area-wide with more the further NE you go since Friday-ish. Last time was fringe-y, but all over the map.

Kmlwx
And that is the problem....by the time it gets it's act together....too late. Yeah but we should still be able to get an inch or two (a little more maybe NE). There's not a ton of support for zero right now.

But realistically ill take my 1-2 inches. The good news is our next blizzard is only 8 days away and it looks like this one will either give the whole east coast a storm or be a cutter. So we can start wasting our next 7 days tomorrow after we enjoy our couple inches tonight.

I could be wrong. As a matter of fact...that would be a nice surprise. I already made my call. And it was for more than an inch. So think what you want. SomeguyfromTakomaPark
FWIW the GFS looks to be off on the position of the low by a bit, looking at the HPC mesoscale site the low appears to be just off the NC coast, S of Cape Hatteras. The 12z GFS at 6h has the low East of there by at least 50+ miles. http://www.spc.noaa....r.php?sector=17#

Don't know if others have reported this but is there any workaround that you have heard of? I think it is related to bandwidth as others are having problems at times when trying to post stuff and it sometimes takes forever to get the site to load. Jason indicated to one of the posters thatn some type of work around was in the works. I'll e-mail him and ask. Wes

2010 extreme
Its not like many events last year anymore where we could see a huge snow shield hundreds of miles away coming at us. Its back to reality of being on the fence, watching the models and waiting for the coastal storm to form to see what pans out.
