Looks like the Wxsim will best my point forecast for today

Point forecast high for today 51

Wxsim 47

Current 41.7

Snowcover still a solid 7"

Based on your pics, your snowpack is still very solid at your place. Impressive.

If we could kick the wind down a notch, it'd be a little more enjoyable outside today, but I'm not complaining.....well not that much.

Currently....46 and sunny.

It is certainly cutting into the warmup...high here today was only 44.0. My wife works down in DE and she noted temps were in the 50's down there but steadily fell as she headed north into Chesco and the snowcover. She said the cover is completely gone in Northern Delaware

Its been gone at ILG and PHL for the last 5 days (the last melted on the 11th).

It's 50 here in god ol' Toms River-too windy to do some yardwork though.....it's not like the leaves I didn't rake up in the Fall are going to go anywhere. :P

The leaves in my neighborhood are embedded in the snow piles alongside the roads. The Township never even came to pick them up before the Boxing Day event occurred :axe: . Should look beautiful this weekend when all the snow has melted

My Accuwx WeatherAlarm is showing wind gusts to 59mph on Saturday. Don't see the pressure gradient to generate that kind of wind.

Anyone think this is likely to happen?

Not that I check all the time, but I have noticed the wind values from the AccuWx site seem to run high. While there is a strong wind potential on Saturday, it is looking more toward a wind advisory event with gusts at this point looking to top out between 40-50 mph. Model guidance has been hinting at this for several cycles now with the CAA push, tightened pressure gradient and a rather robust low-level jet within the northwest flow.

Monday - 50 53.6

Tuesday - 46 35.2

Wednesday bust as well, snowpack keeping temps down. Snow depth hanging tough at 9 inches in the yard at stake, southern exposures pretty much bare.

What kind of exposure is that stake?

Ray

What would you report as snow cover in my situation. Front lawn with southern exposed slope is 60% covered with 2 to 4" of snow. In the back of the house (southern exposure) full sun all day still 6 to8" of solid snowpack - 100% cover

Thx

Paul

It's always tough to do this, but your front yard ranges from 0-4", so 2", your back yard is around 7", so I would probably report 4".

What kind of exposure is that stake?

My yard is about 2 acres on a gentle north facing slope and is completely covered with at least 6 inches. The stake is in a shaded area where the snow is the deepest.

Rest of my property, 12+ acres is a generally south facing hill. Steepest part is bare with 2-4" on top at 650' elevation.

I guess, like Paul, the 'official' depth would be about 4" as an average?

Still have piles of 3+ feet around driveway and house deck that I think will survive the coming torch.

Most likely. Generally a north facing shady exposure isn't representative of "true" snow depth.
