They set an all-time record low maximum yesterday with a high of only 14.

Jesus. That's cold for them.

I've been impressed with the insanely low Td's over the SW -- LA getting single digit dewpoints is pretty rare for them, even with an offshore flow, isn't it?

Current snow depth:

I went out on my snowpack today to try and estimate the depth (without a ruler). Looks to be 7 or 8 inches. I stood on top of the snowpack and fell only about 2 or 3 inches into it before the compacted icy glacier held my weight.

Down to 18 degrees here at 10:15pm

On a serious note does anyone know how to get temps for the year that most fits this winter - I think it was 1917-1918?

Don Sutherland has a thread in the non-regional weather forum in which he mentions the 3 closest analogs to what has happened so far this winter. 1916-17 is the most recent one.

I will never badmouth a La Nina again even if the next time it blowtorches. On a serious note does anyone know how to get temps for the year that most fits this winter - I think it was 1917-1918?

After this winter and last, you'd think someone would really work hard to figure out a way to forecast the AO and NAO at longer time scales, considering that they essentially ruled the roost.

Nah, that doesn't work for me ;) ... we had above normal (slightly, anyway) snowfall in January 1917 here in Elko. This January we barely had any... 5th least snowy on record. :axe:
