Just got home. I have 1-2 inches in my front yard. We are nickel and diming our way to a normal season here. Just amazing this evening. Pretty nice thump of snow in about 45 minutes.

Nice Deal! Seems like you got under the same band that got Knoxville pretty good a couple of hours ago.

Snowfall has picked up here again, but it seems like we are about to have another break in the action according to radar. No accumulation as of yet.

Temp: 34.1 degrees

Dewpoint: 32.8 degrees

It was a nice band. Downtown Kingsport doesn't have quite as much, but industry can have an impact on totals there. Accumulations vary quite a bit. It was almost like a line of summer rain showers rolling through with some parts of town fairing better than others as far as qpf goes.

It's just doesn't seem like its gonna happen for Weaverville. We are 34.8° with mostly rain & a little snow mixed in. Congrats to NE Tenn. & hope downstream can pick up some accum.

Better days ahead for you Robert. Yours is coming!

thanks Don. I'd love to see a really big snow and know ahead of time it's coming, with cold ground, cold surface air, no radar holes, the works. Its been a very long time since thats worked out here. I'm 36 now and there might be some wet snow mixed in, hard to say.

The snow in Knoxville today was some of the heaviest snow I've seen in my life, no joke. HUGE flakes. This kept up for 3 hours easily. I ended up with 2 inches at my house but nothing stuck for the first hour or more due to temps being in the mid 30s. It was an amazing site to see.

Had to answer the dinner bell. In that time we had a moderate burst os snow & well it looks like GSP was right on the money for my area. I would guess a little less than a tenth of an inch on the grassy surfaces. (Not even worth trying to measure)Temp. is now down to 33.8° but the bulk of the moisture has gone thru. Hope the time of day may help the downstream folks with temp. issues.

Awesome to hear. I've seen several reports posted by Facebook friends. Nice. Knoxville is well overdue for a good winter. :snowman:

as far as i can tell, there's been absolutely no snow mixed in with the rain i've been having since about 19:00. temp is 36 and falling. not sure the 1" of snow forecast by noaa/nws will verify...maybe a change-over is in the offing, but i have my doubts...:gun_bandana:

glad to hear of those west of me picking up a bit, though...

wouldn't be surprised to see an icy glaze in the morning here...

Based on critical thickness, and 925mb UA analysis, folks in NC excluding areas west of 77, should not put much stock in this marginal event. Granted, QPF amounts were meager to begin with, but that coupled with serious BL issues is leading to a mixed bag of -RN and drizzle. Best chances of seeing anything frozen look to reside along the boarder counties with VA, and even that seems like a stretch atm as the greatest QPF axis looks to be south of there given current radar, which would set it up along and south of 40.

You beat me to it. I talked a little about this in my updated discussion tonight. This isn't one to stay awake for to be sure.
