eyewall
I am currently uploading some video of what it looked like in Southern Pines when the snow hit. Here is a pic when I was driving north toward the Lee County snow showers of the band from the side:
avianman
Getting some pretty stiff winds in the Hickory area this afternoon. Hearing reports of scattered power outages too.
NC_hailstorm
Just got a 35 mph go through. Wind is really making a roaring sound right above the tree line it seems. 34.
eyewall
Yeah we had some real gusty winds earlier. As the snow showers approach some gusts neared 40 mph without question. Definitely a more interesting Saturday than we first anticipated.

SnoJoe
Looks like accumulating snow is mostly over. Ended with right at 15 inches. Yancey Co. as a whole did very well with up to a foot most everywhere. Doesn't look like we'll get anything from the Monday storm but maybe some light flow snow afterwards. Good luck to Ga and SC ! eyewall
ANyway here is the sun snow shower we had. Hard to see but better if you watch 1080 HD and full screen: I only wish the camera could pick up the white flakes against the blue sky itself which was an awesome site. Now that I got that to finally work I will upload the others from heavier stuff earlier in the day

BullCityWx
Jeremy, I noticed you said how much it reminded you of LES and I have to say, I thought the same thing. The clouds looked like a thunderstorm rolling in, it snowed hard for 5 minutes and it was over.
nchighcountrywx
Temperatures are approaching 0 on Avery County Ridgelines as of 830pm. Grandfather Mountain gusting over 80mph. Carvers Gap
Temp 15 F. Wind Chill 4 F. Interestingly, KTRI averages about 15 inches of snow per winter. We are now at 10.4 inches. With a few more inches, KTRI can go normal for the season during a moderate/strong La Nina. Impressive. BTW, it was the third coldest December in history as well. Thanks, Traveling man I'm fixing to start catching up with you. I figure if I stack sleets I can get up to 100 inches. Just have to figure out how to keep them cold long enough. It is 26 now. Not bad for the night before a storm. T
