CT Rain
Tell tale sign that someone is about to be an ass lol I frequently start posts like that so yeah, you're correct.
JoeD
not to be an ass but i have been trying to hammer this point for some time, and also that a persistent -NAO is not a good thing... You need the ebb and tide cyclic nature of the block and the events take place at the bookend temporal intervals. Agree. Too often folks like to lock into one or two parameters and give up the ship when they are not favorable. There are many, many ways to get decent snows in SNE and it doesn't lie in a handful of synoptic or global scale indices!

ORH_wxman
00z GFS has a little more southern stream vorticity ejected in front of the diving PV...so its inducing some coastal cyclogenesis further south, but I'm afraid that thing is going to steal a nice baroclinic zone out ot sea with it before the main pv energy can come in....we'll see how it evolves, weird looking setup. ORH_wxman
Northern stream vortex is so dominant that it doesn't look like its going to matter that a piece of southern stream energy tried to rob baroclinicity....it looks like a huge solution coming. ineedsnow
if this happens there are going to be alot of happy people around here i think we all need this after what just happened Northern stream vortex is so dominant that it doesn't look like its going to matter that a piece of southern stream energy tried to rob baroclinicity....it looks like a huge solution coming. ORH_wxman
Still a big hit, but I do think that leading system robs a bit of WAA type snows....it makes the whole event more brief it seems.
40/70 Benchmark
I wouldn't call that a "huge" soloution.
DomNH
I wouldn't call that a "huge" soloution. I don't mind a 6-10'' solution a week out. Have to like where we are right now.

ORH_wxman
I wouldn't call that a "huge" soloution. Sorry, it was a "significant" solution. I know when you are reading I have to be careful if its 12"+ for BOS metro vs 24"+

40/70 Benchmark
Sorry, it was a "significant" solution. I know when you are reading I have to be careful if its 12"+ for BOS metro vs 24"+ It's pretty clear you were anticipating that run being a bit larger than it ended up being, which is fine, but I don't understand why you have to get pissy at me for clarifying. I made one simple comment.
ORH_wxman
What does the GGEM and Ukie show? They aren't out yet...Ukie is probably out to 72h, but we need to see it further out.

leesun
Did they both show big hits at 12z from the northern stream pv? They aren't out yet...Ukie is probably out to 72h, but we need to see it further out.
40/70 Benchmark
I think we have to root for the S stream to keep the hell out of it; one way or another it's going to detract from this potential if it gets involved.
ORH_wxman
Did they both show big hits at 12z from the northern stream pv? Ukie did, the GGEM didn't because of wave interference from southern stream but it still dove the PV, so it was quite close.
ORH_wxman
GFS ensembles still look nice...990mb over the BM at 132h after redeveloping the lakes low E of ACY...not as amped up as that 982 mean at 18z, but that was pretty rare to see an ensemble mean do that. This is a little more in line.
weathafella
I like how we're looking. Details can be worked out. We will have the cold, all you can ask for is a reasonably juicy qpf system. Verbatim GFS is a pretty decent snowstorm.....6-12 for many.
