36th Northeastern Storm Conference

Recommended Posts

Folks,

Not sure if I should post this here, but wanted to reach as wide an audience as possible (rather than just the New England subforum).

The Lyndon State College Chapter of the AMS/NWA will host the 36th Annual Northeastern Storm Conference on March 11-13, 2011, to be held at the Taunton Inn and Conference Center (formerly the Holiday Inn) in Taunton, Massachusetts.

Due to major problems from the 35th conference that delayed this announcement (which have been cleared up), they have finally announced the Call for Papers for the conference, but it will close rather quickly, on January 31. While the site to upload your abstract is not available yet, you can check out http://apollo.lsc.vsc.edu/ams/ to see when it is updated. You can also register for the meeting there as well. They will probably post everything once they return from their winter semester break.

They have already announced the keynote speakers:

Ice Breaker Speaker (Friday evening): Ken Carey, Senior Principal Systems Engineer, Noblis Center for Sustainability

Banquet Speaker (Saturday evening): Paul Kocin, NOAA/National Weather Service

Sunday Morning Speaker: Matt Noyes, New England Cable News (NECN), Boston, MA

Needless to say, I plan on attending (since it's only about 20 minutes from my house and right up the street from NWS BOX!), and hope to see several of you AmWx folks there, too.

Oh, if anyone is interested, they do have vendor tables available during the conference. They usually pull about 300 attendees. Again, more information will be posted soon.

Hello again!

Just wanted to push this post back up to the top so more folks will see it.

They finally have their website updated with registration and abstract submission links. Here's the link again:

http://meteorology.l...id=19&Itemid=32

Also, for those of you that may be in the SE MA area on March 12th that are also Lyndon State graduates, there will be an Alumni get together from 5 PM to 730 PM, prior to the Saturday evening banquet (with Paul Kocin as banquet speaker!!!). This is a freebie (well, it is a cash bar, but the munchies are free!), and you do have to listen to a little bit of LSC info, but it's good to see fellow LSC'ers. More info on that is on this website:

http://alumni.lyndon...d=61&calcid=871

Maybe we'll see some of you weenies there (and I mean that in the most sincere way)!!

One more 'bump up!'

For those of you that are planning in submitting abstracts to the NESC, the last day to do that is TODAY!!! However, if you don't have the abstract ready but want to present (either poster or oral), you can e-mail them by TODAY and let them know one is coming. The final cutoff date for delayed abstracts is FEBRUARY 11.

Also, if you are going to the conference, the cutoff date to register is also FEBRUARY 11. Just follow the links earlier in this thread for registration and the e-mail address for abstracts.

Hope to see some of you there!!!

*Message from the Lyndon State AMS/NWA.*

We understand so much has been delayed with this conference and we apologize but the great news is the conference is still on and we appreciate everyone's support!

If you have an abstract IT IS NOT TOO LATE to submit. Thats right, email [email protected] to submit your abstract over the next week or two and let us know if you need more time than that!

Also, registration is up and be sure to book your hotel room early since space is limited. If you have any questions please use the email address a few lines up. Vendors to the conference are welcome as well and there is a separate registration form on the website below.

What a LOVELY day for a weather conference here in Taunton...bright and sunny but chilly, not too bad for mid March!

Great to see JT (KMUWX91) and Matt here so far. I also know wxwatcher is here somewhere, too. Hope to see more of you here!!

Have a good one!
