bluewave
The 20 inches of snow that NYC has picked up with the blizzard puts it right in the middle of the top ten snowiest Decembers. I put together a top ten list and how much snow NYC picked up during the rest of the season. Some years had small November accumulations. YEAR/ DEC/ JFMA/ TOTAL 1947...29.6...33.6...63.2 1872...27.0...29.8...60.3 1948...25.3...21.3...46.6 1883...22.5...20.3...43.1 1904...21.6...26.0...48.1 2003..19.8...22.8....42.6 1960..18.6...36.1....54.7 1959..15.8...22.9....39.2 1945...15.6...12.1...31.4 1933...14.9...36.6...52.
A-L-E-X
And the snowiest December in most of our lifetimes.... one storm changes everything lol. BTW how much did you measure? Note how 1947 and 1948 went back to back and yet were very different winters!
SACRUS
How many of those year's totals were from one storm?
Analog96
How many of those year's totals were from one storm? Off the top of my head, it looks like the *majority* (vast majority) of 1947 and 1960 were from one storm.

I didn't have a good spot to measure since the houses are so close together here down by the beach and there was so much drifting.

Anything to put us above 1883... It looks like only 0.1 on the 14th and the rest were just traces at the park.
