Kind of a hellish nightmare for Mississippi.

Yeah, a lot of these are radar indicated warnings right now, but with this time of night there aren't many spotters who would be on the roads plus the fact that Mississippi isn't you best road network/topography/vegetation

Alabama and MI always seems to get these things. People need to really pay attention to the weather down there at night.

The couplets earlier were scary strong and classic looking, reminiscent of Greensburg, KS

LOL I doubt any of those cells went EF-5. It's likely none were EF-4, either. The Greensburg, KS cell was much more sexier on radar than today's storms.

Dude, there's a "potentially greater than EF3" that will likely be rated EF4 in St. Louis County...and the number of EF3+ is pretty impressive...some of those couplets were indeed really impressive...

Yeah I wouldn't be shocked if we ended up with 2-3 EF-4s in the last 24 hours and yes I would agree that there were some impressive couplets especially considering it is December of all things.

Impressive? Yes. Greensburg-esque? Not really.

I didn't say EF-4s would not come out of today... I just don't really see more than 1. No doubt there were some good EF-3 tornadoes out there today, but from the damage pics I've seen (perhaps a few more links in this thread would be good?), I'm not seeing definitive EF-4 damage. "EF-3 borderline EF-4" is still EF-3.

Just sayin... Also I would give it time there is several storm surveys still to be done.

We'll see about the ratings. But regardless, I think it's fair to say none of the velocity images from today really compared at all with Greensburg.

Yes I will agree with this, I don't know where comparison of today to that day is coming from. Impressive radar signatures sure, anything even remotely close to Greensburg, no.

"It's likely none" and "There will be none" are two different things.

I'm not expecting EF-4s to come from today, but I wouldn't be surprised if we did see one.

Could you send me or post pics/links to damage from today that you would consider to be EF-4? I saw one house from Sunset Hills, MO (a white house with a white van amongst the debris) that might be considered EF-4 damage, but it looks to be more high-end EF-3 (yeah, the difference isn't much, but there is a difference).

Well like I said lets wait and see what happens with the surveys before we get ahead of ourselves.

Sorry if this offended someone with this comment.

To clarify what I meant was I have not seen this sort of training, multiple gate to gate couplets from the same storm. If you followed the greensburg storm as it happened, you'll recall it was one massive cell that later had multiple tornado warnings being produced out of the same storm. I think I remember reading it did produce several tornadoes after the Greensburg hit. Reflectivity was not as clean on today's storm but the SRV image just looks crazy. For a time it appeared two circulations were moving in slightly different directions from the same storm complex.

Not too often you see the tornado emergency issued either.
