Looks like the heavy banding ( or whats left of it) is realigning across Saratoga Cty and pushing into the GFL area now. The lowering of totals up here earlier this evening by the NWS is a bust while Andy's forecast from this morning will verify with a few unlucky exceptions. I'd love to go out and measure now, but the wife fell asleep on the living room couch and I'd wake her up opening the garage door. I'm guessing that I'm closing in on 8" now :snowman:

11.5 " on the board just before 6am this morning. I double checked with the average of several measurements around by the driveway and side of the house and they all avg 11" too.

Pretty neat for me esp after getting my gonads busted all day yesterday and forecasts cutting back in the evening.

Nice powder makes for nice snow angels. :snowman:

You got me so far!!! I'm in at 11.2" :arrowhead: The thing that got me was how the NWS scaled us down to 1-2" last night around dinner time but yet kept the WSW hoisted. The whole thing didn't make sense to me from the get go. I have to admit, I had my doubts until mid evening as the heavier bands were setting up to the SW and seemed to magically vanish as they crossed the Hudson into Warren Cty. But when I realized the regeneration on the back edge down in Columbia Cty was a long term process, I knew you would prove correct just on the basis of the longevity of the event/ fluff factor. Congrats Andy..............well done :weight_lift:

Thanks Jeff..still big flakes here but definitely lighter. Only looks like barely .25 liquid so far...one hell of a liquid to snow ratio.

BTW- I see more on the board looks like somewhere < 1"

And the NWS did downgrade us from warning to WWA. I heard it on both CKM and the Q. I was in the chiropractor's office when I heard CKM came on with the update and I just shook my head and laughed.

Let's hope so, because it's been a mind numbing boring winter so far.. At least we had that decent storm back in early December, but since then, not a whole lot.. Here's hoping that things pick up snow quantity wise soon for our area, and that all of us are the benefiary of a nice synoptic system that just buries everyone.. :snowman:

Cheers,

Scratch

yes, we are very lucky we had that surprise storm in december.....imagine if we didnt :arrowhead:

i do think we have made some positive strides in breaking things down this week.

hopefully that pays off in the not too distant future.

as to your last point, why cant those epic coastals that hammer everyone from buffalo to montreal on the 384 GFS ever verify?? :gun_bandana:

My final was 6.3 inches. We had a lot of catching up to do with only 2 inches or so at 6 PM last night. So when all was said and done I'm quite satisfied and it is beautiful outside. I am the family "weatherman" and had told my sister 6 inches so I did well. I had told her 6-10" from the the Boxing Day Noreaster and we got 7" that time so I'm looking good. LOL

Now on to the Miller A and hopefully the biggest of the season so far here.

NOW...TO MAKE MATTERS MORE INTERESTING...ON THE MESOSCALE WE HAD A

FAIRLY ROBUST BAND OF LK EFFECT OVER LK ERIE MOST OF THE NIGHT. THIS

FORMED LAST EVENING ON A TYPICAL SW-NE ORIENTATION...BUT IT NEVER

MOVED ONSHORE. RATHER...SFC AND LOW LEVEL WINDS BECAME L/V AND

EVEN BACKED TO SE...KEEPING THE BAND OFFSHORE AND EVENTUALLY

SHOVING IT NORTH INTO THE NIAG PENINSULA. AT PRESS TIME...REMNANTS

OF THIS BAND WERE SWINGING NORTHWEST UP ACROSS THE GOLDEN

HORSESHOE OF ONTARIO...YOU DONT SEE LK ERIE SNOW MAKING IT TO

TORONTO VERY OFTEN.

not too shabby, good forecast.

good dendrites falling in ottawa again now, the pivot point made it about 50 miles or so NNE of ottawa and has since rotated back down through there......fascinaiting event really for them.

I always listen to 101.7 radio.I also know the previous owner of Ckm and 95.9.... We can talk about that over a few beverages and burgers sometime.

Anyway Andy, very nice work with this storm. You know we always trust your call here.I plowed until 10:30 last night it, and it must have only taken a break because the boss (wife this time) just asked me when I am going out again. I looked out the window and almost lost the coffee!! I am headed out again now and just wanted to Say nice work Andy, and has Steve called with his apology for

Not listening yet?

About 7 inches even here with more just to my NE. Barely eclipsed the east coast blizzard from last week, but I'll take these moderate events anytime. Slightly different scenario here with about 4 inches between 6-7PM last night, and squeaking out a final 3 from then on. Keeping fingers crossed for mid-week, but in the meantime its beautiful out there! Nice call by the way...the WWA worked out pretty well for our area all things considered.

It really is looking good here at the moment. Best of all, it's the white, fluffy snow usually associated with Alberta Clippers. Things are deffinately looking up. As I said yesterday, according to Don the last time a consistent greenland block was seen was 1959-60 and that February saw a snow blitz n this city. He's also mentioned February 1917, which was also quite cold and snowy in these parts.

All I need now is a moderate to heavy snowfall followed by my 0F or -20C day! :snowman::shiver:

Nice! I saw a report from Rotterdam on Andy's station of 9"...thought that was too high, but could have been from the eastern end of town if you had over 8". Of course, with all the fluff, I could have messed up my own measurements, but I'll stick to my first estimate. Still need to get out there and shovel...

The final total IMBY was 8.3" of fluff. Time to go pick up my 2 year old nephew and take him sleigh riding.

So, did you make any...or did you just let the snow go to waste :P

Interactive snow map

I picked up 2 inches overnight. which brings me to 12 inches for the Clipper. My snowpack is 20 inches.. .

Looks like it was a 30:1 ratio here. One of the higher ones I have seen since I have been living here over the past 24 years.

So, did you make any...or did you just let the snow go to waste :P

:sun:

Made 4, 1 on the side lawn, 2 in the backyard and one in the street by my driveway. This one had the desired effect, I heard the plow stop perhaps he thought there was someone in the street as a result I didn't get speed plowed.
