I wasn't expecting to get "snow-holed" in western schenectady because I'm at 1,400 feet elevation, but I'm watching these nice DBZ returns stream up through western Albany county, and it's like they hit a wall and evaporate at the Schenectady county line. :arrowhead:

Hopefully that will change as this thing pivots a bit.

Andy what do you make of the snow hole over eastern albany county? according to the nam we get shadowed for a good portion of the day before that band moves in. hopefully were still looking at advisory level snows.

yeah thats suprising i'd expect it to pick up in intensity real soon as that area of nicer returns moves north. this evening should be the main event if things go as modeled.

huh? Meaning 4-8 may bust high...not low. Dont think the LG region has more than a coating so far.

4-8 inches is TOO LOW a RANGE. 7-12, 8-14 still looks good for up here. Upper end of the range over higher elevations. GF looks solid for at least 8 probably 10. GFL 3/4 inch now west side of Queensbury 2" (West Mtn's location, though he gets some of the snow from the resort when they have the guns on. ;-) )

Yep shadowing all the way up to Malta. Snow is very grainy in nature. Things will change after 3-4pm for you; change for the better. Should see steady snow 5-10p tonight 3-5 probably another 1-3 7a-2p Saturday.

ok but I disagree, Gore will be very lucky to see 8 inches from this. 4-8 seems like the correct range for the LG region in my opinion with a lean to the lower side of that range.

4.5" overnight and 0.3" today, which bumps our snow total to just over 50% of average for the entire season. At this point in 2008-09, we'd had 92", but another 28" fell from 1/8 to 1/10. Last winter we'd had 81.3", but we'll make a big jump on that over the next weeks, as there was little snow after 1/9.

BUF's issuing a LES Watch for Saturday night into Sunday.

as expected NWS ALB is lowering the snow totals for the SE dacks:

I hope we can manage 4 inches in the LG area...which is the low end of my range.

35 min away in Johnsburg (also SE Adirondacks) there is already 4"....

I noted that although the output map has updated (as it should - several inches on the ground already!) the forecast for the overnight hours hasn't changed.

I imagine Gore is making out even better.

thats surprising considering the radar hasnt looked good for any part of warren county all day.
