ict1523
Once the radar filled in over the City, all hell as broken loose. Extremely intense winds with Moderate Snow. Could add on another 4-5" when all is said and done, but not as impressive as John's totals. LOL There was 1-2 hours of slightly lighter snow but its back to original intensity. Amazing. Pitmaster
In Monroe, NY (Orange County) getting absolutely crushed for the past couple of hours now. Winds starting to pick up more. My Audi A4 has literally disappeared in the driveway. Closing in on 2 ft easily! This is awesome! But this part of the lower Hudson Valley always seems to do really well. No complaints here. cold&cloudy
The orange sliver (10-12 inch est.) of Sussex County is where I live. Woo hoo. Will that heavy band ever leave PA?
green tube
East Brunswick looks to bein the better bands now? it looked better on radar than it actually was... and is. just light snow.

Kingwill
Norlun Troff. It may add another 6"-10" . I saw this movie last year. And don't be fooled by the dry slots, It is still snowing hard. really I am smack in the middle of NJ and there has been light snow to almost flurries at times for 3 hrs now..this has been a frustrating storm for me as the county right next to me has double the amount of snow.. TwcMan
Def at or over 2 feet now...I'm going out in alittle bit to measure....here in northern middlesex county, this has truly been a historic event. The snow is still coming down at a intense rate. Could hit 30 inches here like John

Manny
Winds have really made this storm. True blizzard conditions, with drifts piling the sidewalks with tons of snow in the city. I'll post videos later today of my adventure across the city from 3-11.
NorthShoreWx
Liquid equivalents 1.23 to 17.7 at Newark 0.64 to 10.4 at JFK 0.75 to 10.2 at LGA 1.09 to 12.0 at NYC 0.81 to 11.3 at Islip ISP has to be wrong. Lousy ratios here and we didn't even have sleet like ISP reported for a couple of hours (although I'll admit I am skeptical about those sleet reports). We are now finally getting heavy snow here after light to moderate for the entire storm. We've had numerous momentary whiteouts due to the winds, but finally there is steady low viz; I'd say about an eighth now.

Dsnowx53
Some interesting things happened with this storm. 1) Western fringe was displaced eastward 2) Axis of heaviest snow was displaced westward. I wonder if the storm's track had anything to do this; with two opposite things happening, I would think the storm's rapid intensification was the cause of this moreso than the track. Hey Alex: just measured 14.8"...I'm assuming you're at ~16", since you had 14.9" over an hour ago?
cold&cloudy
have 20 inches in Butler(northeast morris cnty) , maybe a little more but getting tough to measure thats for sure. That seems a bit high, but perhaps you were just far enough east to pick up even heavier amounts than areas to the west. Might be double the snow in a relatively short distance (10-20 miles). Winds are really picking up now.

Indeed it is! I just went outside to measure and it's coming down much harder than it was an hour ago...very close to 15" now in the hopefully "good measuring spots". I sat almost on top of that western fringe for the entire event. It was as if it hit a brick wall along I-81. A rough estimate of 4" fell here so far, but I'll bet not more than 10 miles west of me hardly got anything.

NorthNJwx
have 20 inches in Butler(northeast morris cnty) , maybe a little more but getting tough to measure thats for sure. That's what I measured around 1:15 AM. I've probably had a little more since then, maybe an inch, but not too far off. My backyard averaged 18" and my front yard averaged 22", so I split the difference and called it 20". It's very tough to get an even remotely scientific measurement. It's weird to think I've gotten so much, because it seemed like 15" or so would be the max possible amount here. The total in the morning might end up closer to 23 or 24. Winds have been kind of touch and go here, but I did have a gust to 36 a short while ago - so there have been some strong gusts. I think the low tracking a bit further east (compared to the coast-hugging model runs from Saturday) kept the really strong winds to LI and points east, though a lot of stations in NJ still managed to get around '96 wind levels. EWR had some impressive sustained/gust values earlier. As the low pulls away and the flow turns more NW, we might see some more gales in NJ and lots of blowing snow. Dark Energy
i agree with an earlier poster that b/c of the wind, the snow total reports will be all over the place and the nws mets will have their hands full with removing the bad obs. this may end up being a train wreck for sure.
