hooralph
How much you measure around South End/Back Bay? Have no idea. Would have to get out into a park.
Clinch Leatherwood
This storm is f*king awesome and ridiculous at the same time. While I am impressed with the wind, and some incredible snowfall reports, (30 inches in NJ, and over 2 feet in the White Mountains), the snowfall is extremely erratic. The bands are now separated by huge areas of dry air and I stare at the radar wondering if they will ever come over me by the end of the storm. I think I ended up with about 10, but still not really what I was expecting. Reading about other people on here, widespread 6-12 inches in central and eastern MA, southern NH, and ME seems to be it. Am I missing something? There are isolated higher amounts, but what the hell happened? Everyone has great ideas on what happened after the fact. When those points were being made in the 12-30 hours beforehand nobody wanted to hear it. If people think this forum isn't being read by everyone they're nuts. I put up a snow total here from a town and it's on tv ten minutes later when I know it came from here because it was down to the tenth and I know he didnt call it in. For years the mantra was "dont look at the QPF fields" because it's the last one generated by models. Look at the 700, 850, mid levels to see if it makes sense. It kind of did but it pointed to a really narrow band of heavy snows with subsidence on either side, not a widespread blizzard. Great winter storm sure, but maybe we're contributing to the hype here, who knows. Was a great snowstorm from Boston SW/S. I know for a fact this did more damage in west brockton/easton/raynham then any storm since 1978 in terms of wind and tree damage. There are limbs down everywhere. It was pretty epic for a few smaller areas. It was not the 15-25" storm or even largely the 12-24" type storm over a huge area even though there will be plenty of measuring of drifts. weathafella
Well I'm happy but had I received 6-7 I'd still be happy. Snow on the ground, beautiful winter landscape...good health. Only downside is I missed the funeral but I'd have been extremely bummed to be out of town for a storm that dumped this much snow and wind imby. subdude
Attach a sail to the sled and the will have fun! That's a great idea I may have to engineer some type of rig for one of their sleds. I along with many others were expecting a tad more with this storm. I guess we didn't get the heavy banding that SE MA got. Congrats to all out there who got it. CoastalWx
What a disaster at my crib. 4-6' drift covering my back parking area and my nice evergreen shrubs crushed. I hope they come back. The pics of drifts look like whipped cream.
amarshall
About 14" in Quincy. Maybe more. Half the city is underwater. My family called from marshfield and they had serious flooding last night. The seaweed on top of the 6 ft snow drifts looked nice this morning. Clinch Leatherwood
i don't think it's really oes...might be some minor enhancement but it's mainly just wrap around bands I think you're right, behind the main band there does seem to be some weak OES, I've got 1/2 in snow but it's a different dendrite structure. At least two quick inches but now it's blowing and drifting. Roads are a disaster as everything froze.

weathafella
As the banded areas coillapse and converge east and se we're getting renewed increase in snow growth and increasing intensity. Nice!
