Discuss the Blizz of 2010 - Part II

His old stomping grounds, part of the metro area of one of the largest cities on earth, will finish with 20+ widespread across the area. And before you declare, wait for the totals. There's a nice band either overhead at Ayer or will be soon.

the combination of wind and snow down there with this system ranks up there with the most elite in my memory. Nowadays, blizzard warnings get thrown around quite a bit (relatively speaking) and oftentimes they truly only verify only in small areas if at all. This is a true blizzard down in my old BY. I am very impressed.

THIS BLOWS EVEN MORE.

I'm talking to a friend on facebook and he said he saw lightning earlier and I aksed him where, he said West Hartford :axe::axe::axe:

I missed it. He was looking towards Farmington though and my bedroom looks the opposite direction.

This has set me over the edge.

Come on Paul.. At least you had your Convection close by.

Earthlight has 26"....blizz conditions for 6 consecutive hours and ongoing.

S+

Yet another outrageous anomaly that we can whack it too at H5, yet just wasn't very impressive for the majority of the region.

ROFL, first time all day I've laughed that hard, thanks Ray.

Radar looks like balls still, even the mega band is shrinking. Look like probably it's realigning hopefully for the evening show. Nam brought another 1/2 roughly from here on out right in the same areas.

Oh, hey... Let's not forget ORF has their 3rd all-time snowfall. How many storms have dropped >12" at ORF, NYC and BOS? Any... Ever? It's freak monster of a storm with some unfortunate banding. It's not, sadly, a SNE special.

brushed snow off my car a little while ago and I think there was a foot, and the winds been blowing the snow off a bit too, so 10-12 here on the North Shore of MA......15-18 storm total not out of the question, visibility is between 0 and 1/4 miles for the last 5 hours

I wouldnt worry about missing the flash.. Im about 6 miles from you, and I saw it too.. and the thunder.. And just like you, I have only about 6 inches of snow to show for it.. This kind of bust cant be made up for by a flash or two.. . know what I mean?!axesmiley.png

Plenty of systems that weren't sne specials I was fine with.

I think this the largest meteorological dissapointment of my life.

Yeah you are..I wouldn't be surrpised if BOS comes in with a top 10 at this rate....how much do you have? BOS could get over 18" or even 20" if it works out right.

I wish I knew, lol. There is no way I can accurately measure around here. Nothing but wind tunnels with all the buildings....snow is blowing all over the place...plows going nonstop...people shoveling every last potential measuring spot...

All I can say is that what I am seeing is similar to PDII when I was in NYC...I think we'll definitely be seeing 20+" numbers around Boston.

ORH gusted to 48 knots....that is pretty good.

That's pretty sweet... even if it isn't two feet, its not everyday that you get to enjoy a foot of snow with 50mph winds. The wind reports have been incredible.

And what you said earlier, Will, hit home. A couple of days ago this was a whiff and no one was getting much of anything more than flurries. Plows are out, shovels will be out, and there will be snow cover across a very widespread area now... that's worth celebrating.

On that note, I'm off to bed. Best of luck everyone. Just be happy its not 18F and partly cloudy with a NW breeze over bare ground.

The rotation is such that the NY/NJ stuff will have a piece here. Incidentally their PNS is far more paltry than expected. 6 inches in Teaneck as of 7PM? I had that much or more here by then? I thought NYC area got 2 feet?

I bet they have alot more than that now.. Not far from Earthlight who has 20+, and right across the bridge from Manhattan.. I think that area was one of the jackpots.

Don't let it be surpassed by crashing on your laptop tonight and while snoozing a band drops 14 inches on your house. Go to bed...tomorrow's another day...lol..
