NB-Weather
Ahh, the pingers are back. Estimated it about 80% snow 20% snow. <- that estimation is 100% off. Still can't complain though considering how much of a surprise this storm was in general.
40/70 Benchmark
You can see the dryslot trying to slow progress north and move more east to west. It's trying to develop a ccb clearly. Just noted the same thing; we're good imo and won't be that close.

Clinch Leatherwood
Has to be some sort of warm air pocket wrapping around as the system is tightening up. 18z gfs has a warm core at One point just after 0z!
csnavywx
Has to be some sort of warm air pocket wrapping around as the system is tightening up. BUFKIT profiles had been showing a warm wedge around 8-10kft, and being as most model soundings are smoothed with respect to actual conditions, it's entirely possible that it's that shallow warm wedge that's doing it. You're also playing around the mid-level dry slot, so that tends to screw things up as well.
