I'm pinging big time right now.

I'm in the center of what I like to call the "subsidence channel" .....it's a corridor that essentially acts as a conduit for all things subsidence to ride through; they often set up just to the nw of a zone of cf enhancement.

You are in it, but not as deeply as I.

I just hope this is not a stable thermal gradient along the cp because if it is, I'm not getting much more than 1'.

Too early to tell.

Yeah, too early to tell. I'm still snowing pretty good, but these damn pellets have to be killing ratios.

I'm still getting pure snow grains. Decent winds. Gust to 25mph at EEN ... with 3.0sm visibility which just goes to show .... yeah.

Sorry for blowing up, but yeah I'm kinda p*ssed right now. This is a horrible indication for the rest of the storm for me, because I assume I'm getting epically screwed from downsloping. It's going on 4 years since my last 12+" storm, and I was hoping this might break the streak, but doesn't look like it. If this is another storm with a 10+" differential between AFN and MBY, bridges are going to look really friendly tomorrow, if I haven't had a heart attack already.

I'm out, because I have a feeling that any longer, and I'll find an easy way to get banned tonight.

Go out and ask him if any trees are down and where

Got any thunder yet?

Kev, glad your family is safe... Why were they so late? Didn't you warn them?

They left the hill at Butternut around 1:30 in light snow..I had told them to head back by 12:30 at the latest.

Heavy snow/heavy traffic and then they stopped to eat and had to pick up my sick daughter some stuff she could eat/drink since i couldn't leave. Her cell phone lost signal up there and then she turned it off..and never called me :arrowhead: :arrowhead:

In the last 5 minutes have gone back to heavy snowgrains/balls/pellets whatever you want to call it, just killing the northfacing windows in the house.

Dendrites mixing back in now, but very heavy precip.

I would guess somewhere around 7 here in Fairfield, but to be honest its impossible, drifts against the sliding glass door on north side easily approaching 3 ft, interesting storm to say the least.

Mm, hate to say ...but if this snow pellet bs doesn't cut soon this is going to disappoint.

Also, not liking the shredded rad appearance. The real big events don't do this shredded stuff - that usually happens because some level is shearing the deep layer vortex.

Not out of the woods yet however, because the deepest closure aloft take place and consolidation takes place after 3z, that may eventually change the output characteristic

my friends are all texting me saying "CHRIS! what's going on with this "storm" its not even bad out"...I literally texted them in a mass text..."**** you, go drive in it."

in other words, be careful. I just drove what is usually a 15 minute drive and it took well over an hour. Roads aren't pretty, visibility isn't pretty. Vis was down to a couple hundred feet at best. Be safe! :snowman:

we NEED to get some bigger flakes, it's hammering but nothing's really accumulating too well

No sweat; folks should be able to vent, as well as the "OMFG 1\16th VIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" posters.

Yeah, this is very, very odd. Can't remember this happening before.

I'm with you....not ready to call it yet, but I am concerned.
