how is everyone doing. I've been stuck on friends i pad without ability to type letters just emotions....anyway staying in bridgewater right by raynham line. 7 new inches here on the car as of ten minutes ago. taking a shot everyone inch so not sure how long ill be capable. lol

must be 31 or so here as snow is wet but got a bit lighter after the initial 4 inches earlier.

dry slot has me concerned.

the convective nature of the precip filling in behind dry slot leads me to believe there is a warm mid leverl layer somewhere. i hope to jesus himself that we fill back in down here with some heavy snow later. if i am staring at 2 mile visibilities for hs next 5 hours i may go beserk.

any mets have any ideas wether heavy snow may fill in for n. bristol county later tonite. please

so again 7 inches new at least in bridgewater, ma as of 625pm

edit just looked back on friends comp who has a nice radar scoope app. and band doesn

t want to leave area.....easton ma is getting absolutely smoked cause they have good ratio

s with temps around 25.

It's the same mechanism that causes hail in a summer thunderstorm. Caused by the updrafts and downdrafts

Interesting idea but ... I have seen this before. Snowing moderate to heavy while simultaneous 10% of the particulates are partially melted but refrozen balls.

There has been thunder reported in the area; in fact, this type of particulate behavior is not uncommon during thundersnow. Every one I have experienced did this.

Well now this is interesting... It pinged for few minutes, then went back to snow, now it is almost entirely small snow balls out there mixed with lifted blown snow. Trees are starting to jet engine here. 21/20.

I assume those "pingers" look like little pieces of styrofoam? It does sound a bit like convection is playing around with the snow crystals giving them graupel like properties even without a warm layer.

Tropical storm conditions with s+ snow.

Incredible here in sw ct.

gusting to 50 mph.

How close to the water are you?

I'm probably about a dozen miles N of where you are... I don't have any instrumentation other than temperature (23.5 right now)... Wind is gusting, snow is snowing, but I don't believe that I'm seeing anything like what you are describing... I go outside every 2 hours or so to brush snow off of a "garage in a box" tent structure and to knock it off of some low branches, best guess is 5" deep now.

Elevation here is about 450 feet ASL...

I think we can avoid power outages BOS metro if temps stay in the low-middle 20s. Currently 22F here...barring a blown down tree branch, we should keep power. Down by Bridgewater-Middleboro-Quincy areas, I'd be a little more concerned...

Any thoughts...

Houvering at 30.5 here. didnt realize it warmed up so much
