yhbrooklyn
Tickets were sooo hard to get and amtrak's site kept saying everything was sold out, wanted the 8pm but only just managed to snag the 10pm, and that was at 9pm! At wilmington now CAN'T WAIT TO JOIN ALL OF YOU!!! :D My brother's friend lives on the upper west side and his son was scared because of thunder and lightning. dbc
Definitely just saw my second flash of lightning tonight. I had three separate flashes in succession earlier this evening that were like 3 minutes apart. Haven't had any in a few hours but 100% whiteout here, blizzard conditions without a doubt. Snow amounts by eyeballing are high enough to be half way up SUV's parked away from where plows have been. It is so insane that I cannot guarantee I'd make it back inside alive if I were to venture out here on the cliffs of the Palisades.

TKFJ
I would not be shocked TBH. Just saw that 23" report, and these ridiculous bands don't seem to be moving. I am just west of the 23 inch report, and believe me it is absolutely ridiculous outside.

LocoAko
Mega band part 4 about to commence here...we're going to make a push well over 2 feet. Record for my location is 32 in the blizzard of 96. I think that is safe...but Feb 06 is in serious jeopardy (26.7). This band is insane. Seriously. I think it is the heaviest snow of the day here. Total whiteout... visibility just a few teens of feet at times.

Jefflaw77
Yes..it's going to be impacting Bergen-Passaic-Essex-Hudson-Union-Middlesex counties within 15 minutes. Are any bands or anything going to traverse through LI tonite?? All night we've had run of the mill mod/heavy snow.. Ya- we're at about 11" But this band to our west is sick... any chance that band moves over LI at a very slow rate? jeff

But the low getting captured is going to create some problems and may push the best frontogenesis off to the west. To be honest I am not totally sure how this is going to behave. Zir0b
The incoming band may be the heaviest snow of the night. I have trouble thinking I will ever see anything like this again. By the way, I love everybody in this thread. Seriously. We've been watching this since it was on the 240hr GFS panels. You guys rock. Indeed, I must say it has been a privilege tracking the storm with you guys. What an amazing storm. It has just kept on snowing since it started. No worrying about about sleet/dryslots/virga/losing qpf due to daytime heating...just a perfect storm in every way for this area.
SnowGoose69
those all seem INCREDIBLY low I believe they are likely correct though outside of Central Park which was probably more at 7-8 at 7pm, alot of the non-official measurements I believe are being contaminated by roof blowoff and just overall drifting....the QPF argued for totals near 12-14 total for JFK/LGA if they did not get into any intense mesoscale banding...as of now they will likely pass those easily and they have only been in transitory bands so far. It's just remarkable the number of big storms the tri-state area has had in recent years. We'll have to remember this cycle fondly when we go into a period of years without many big storms. As we know, it's not normal to get big storms at the pace we've gotten them. This has been an incredible period for snow lovers. This is like a dream.
