RutgersWx92
In some spots yes..There were plenty of People including Myself who saw 30 Inches of Snow from Blizzard of 96..I live in Central NJ(Somerset County) who saw 30 from that one while right now I am right around 12 inches and will be probably lucky to get 3 or 4 more inches unless some heavier stuff moves in again.. I only have about 9 inches here in western Somerset County. Crazy gradient. There's probably only a few inches just 20 miles west of me while 20 miles east of me has 18+ inches. Zir0b
Inbound on the train to NYC from DC, left at 10pm and almost at Wilmington. At least 3-4" on ground here but conditions are beginning to deteriorate noticeably, anticipating SN shortly. Can't wait to see what's going on during the ride through Jersey, I'll be verifying all your totals on the run There was no way I was going to miss this when it became apparent how historic it'll be! Hopefully I'll catch the last third or so in NY Not sure why it took you so long to make the decision...lol Anyway enjoy the storm when you get there

billgwx
I think the NAM was trying to forecast that band and thought it would set up over NYC or western LI. Was off by a few miles. I wanted that band, dammit. Tried to account for this in the OKX daytime update and still didn't go far enough west. Thought 30 miles would do when 40-50 would have been more like it. friedmators
That band pivoting west looks absolutely insane. So close to Edison. My buddy is headed home to Toms River and at least 30 cars are abandoned on Route 9.

masomenos
It's amazing how much the wind changes the entire impact of the storm. We've been blessed with tons of great snow storms this past decade, but none have brought the area to a standstill like this storm.
Fozz
Someone may very well get 40". WTF. Some places already have 2 feet and they could be getting up to 10-15 more inches if they remain in the insane bands.

SnowGoose69
What's up with the 4.5" report at 7:00pm at Central Park. Just walked through Central Park, nowhere near 4.5 inches. They strictly follow the rules of measuring only 6 hours since they are an official station...they will measure at midnight though for the daily climo...4.5 was very ridiculous as of 7pm though since they had 3.5 at 3-4pm... Nikolai
Not sure why it took you so long to make the decision...lol Anyway enjoy the storm when you get there Tickets were sooo hard to get and amtrak's site kept saying everything was sold out, wanted the 8pm but only just managed to snag the 10pm, and that was at 9pm! earthlight
Mega band part 4 about to commence here...we're going to make a push well over 2 feet. Record for my location is 32 in the blizzard of 96. I think that is safe...but Feb 06 is in serious jeopardy (26.7).

earthlight
The incoming band may be the heaviest snow of the night. I have trouble thinking I will ever see anything like this again. By the way, I love everybody in this thread. Seriously. We've been watching this since it was on the 240hr GFS panels. You guys rock.
